  1. the 848R or the 749RS?

    Happy Christmas.......

  2. Well one exists, one doesn't.

  3. Are you sure..........

  4. I'm sure there will be full on R spec 848s out there with all the right internals etc, you can buy the kit so means some have done it.

But where does that grey line of 'real' V 'modded' lay? I'd guess if its factory its real and anything else modded

  5. well if the R is defined as being sold as is oiut the factory, then the 848R does not exist..
the 749 RS is a rare bird indeed...

  6. is that rare bird like the one that says, "buy what bike you like .....in fact pop down the pub and discuss it with your mates over a few beers, ill sort up here".............ie that rare it dont exist!

  7. So it doesnt exist? Didnt they make them to race in the supersport class? Or was it an R with a factory RS kit upgrade?

  8. Yes.

For it to be a 'R' for me it has to be developed and sold as a 'R'. The 848 never was. The 749RS does exist, though very rare.

  9. The first one if existed must be on factory price list, and never happened. I owned a 749RS since 2009 and sold it few days ago ...

  10. i think you owned a 749R.....with some 999RS bits, maybe even some FO bits...but not a factory designated 749RS it never existed.

  11. Mmm RS is that a bike that's evolved through racing, been through design process, testing and development, parts drawn and made in house with there own part numbers and only available to factory teams...that kind of RS?

The kind of RS that if your lucky enough to have the opportunity to buy after the series ends you can....if you have the lolly that is....

  12. @Andyb: No man, you were wrong. Not only the RS factory designated kit exists, and here I'm not the only owner (actually I'm a former owner) but mine was fitted with a lot of F designated parts coming from factory 04 Breil.

Proper 749RS bikes were sold to NCR / SC team to race WSS

  13. I see where the confusion is here,

Bikes & parts as described as above by Arthur would all be prefixed FO, these parts indeed were only available to the Factory teams anything designated RS was and is for customer bikes & non factory teams.

  14. Though in its raw state a ducati is just a sum of parts........some have stickers on some don't, some parts fit across a multitude of bikes, some don't, some bits intended for some bikes FO RS or R transferred across to other bikes either at the factory, people buying 'kit' spares or by people at their own home....

  15. I think sir, you are the one that is wrong, yes the factory sold bikes to NCR & SC but they were 749r with a set of kit parts and NEVER designated as RS

  16. True, kits available to build your own but no official RS full bike, but the two late 2005 bikes sold to SC were built the proper way: totally built from Corse with Corse part then supplied to team as any RS

A side note: English is not my mother tongue, so I apologize if sometimes I made mistake o seems a bit rude

  17. but if it's totally built by Corse, it's an F0, not a customer bike. I'd rather have a Corse built 749R F05 than an RS or kit R or whatever. TBH tho, Max and I were having dinner with one of the people who developed the 749R for WSS and he referred to it as an RS. I'd be happy to accept his definition.

  19. Andy, all factory bikes past '02 are referred to as F0x. I don't really care what it's called.

  20. Actually Ducati sometimes doesn't play that fair with names and things like that, 1098 used by liberty/effembert are now called RS but used to be F10 from official team, with a man from factory to manage them, so how call them?
