Afternoon all, getting mighty pissed off with main dealer Ducati service prices and so is time for an independent following my £250 1st year service (So basically an oil change). I figure that by time its due again, be out of warranty anyway. A guy with a KTM pays £145 on here, and my mates just had his Z1000 done for £140. £250 is a piss take, and the break down does not help.....2 hours at 80 quid an hour (fecking 2 hours to change some oil, check the lights and plug a laptop in??) and £55 for 4 litres. So they bill the oil as separate litres, where as we all know 4 litre tubs cost so much less. Now don't get me wrong, I really like my local dealer but the run of the mill service costs have gone bonkers !! So, who's the good independents in Hampshire ?? I now have a year to consider it but any help much appreciated.
@PGP Ducati trained technician with years of experience. Based Southampton way. When he was at Snells, I would only ever have him work on mine, and would happily wait (as he was always busy)
Thanks mate, you use him now @bradders or still main dealer ?? I figure first service at main dealer but after that ??
Some may argue, its worth staying with main dealer even after warranty expires for the "good will help" if something goes badly wrong. But I'm starting to think, fuck it I'll take my chances with the costs spiraling as they are. I genuinely don't have an issue paying a fair price for a fair product, but 250 smakeroos for 4 litres of oil and a look round ??
But its unlikely DUK will help if you've been anywhere else though. When my chain snapped out of warranty, the first thing DUK asked was about my service history being all Ducati, but I'm still airing on the side of feck'em
