Hello, I'm after a slip on exhaust for a 2014 MTS. Not after performance gains just noise. Any advice UK not Canada.
A slip-on exhaust won't give much noise increase. It's more like a bit of bling as the cat box does most of the silencing, the standard exhaust having no sound absorption. For a worthwhile improvement in sound you need to remove the cat and fit a decat pipe and a decent, silenced, slip on. I have fitted an Arrows full system for Euros 815, bought off ebay direct from Italy. It is well made and good value, and slightly on the noisy side which was just what I wanted.
As above, if you remove the existing slip on and start the bike, you'll barely notice a difference, slip on cans are virtually for show purpose only as all the noise restriction is done in the cat box. Best either to fit a full system or at very least drill out that daft butterfly that there is an endless thread on here about (which does liven up the noise a bit). Best of luck, post pics of what you end up with
You could de-cat a standard exhaust, which I did, and it will give a bit more noise without being too obtrusive. Cheaper too, if you do most of the work yourself.
No, de-cat is to remove the big bulky catalyst, butterfly is the small sprung loaded flapper just in front of the end can, if you remove the end can you can see the butterfly a few cm's inside the pipe.
This may help But TBH, new complete system is the way forward https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/hacksaw-to-the-butterfly.50478/
Pictures of what I did... Took a 2-3 hours and a friend rewelded the seam all round & filled in the butterfly valve holes with weld. Then I painted it with heat resistant paint. Better mid range, a bit more noise. Looks the same to plod (police) which is good for some countries and cost about £30.
