Interesting how far the clutch sticks out relative to the cylinder, also how far angled backwards the rear cylinders are so if it's a 90 degree V the front cylinders will not be anywhere near horizontal and more likely pointing up towards the headstock. About time too, the previous configurations were always too long, it will allow them much more flexibility in shortening the front whilst keeping a decent swingarm length.

 

I'd have to see it in the flesh. However, on first glance, it looks like Pierre Terrblanche is back and he's been at the magic mushrooms.

 

They would probably improve his designs.

 

For all those moaning about the V4 potentially having no torque, you perhaps haven't ridden the new RSV4 RF? it's ridiculous, okay it's starting to wheely at 5k revs instead of basically at Idle but the spready of torque all the way up to the redline is ridiculous!

Anyway as a side note, I keep hearing £20K base model, and tbf Ducati's have never been for the 'lower majority' in terms of cost, however I'm hearing from some industry friends that the PCP bubble is well and truly bursting and it could be the next lending crisis. I beleive lenders have already started building in more indemnity etc to protect themselves from loss, which means bikes like these on PCP might be a stretch! Slightly off topic apologies but worth mentioning in the overall scheme as I'm more interested in whether they replace the 959 in 2020 with a 800cc V4 as that would be my perfect bike.

I'm hoping the engine is going to be good because if that's how it's going to look then I'm disappointed. It looks like they've redesigned a Panigale just for the sake of it and made it look worse.

Funny mate, I remember hanging around outside the gates in 2002 (I think) trying to get a glimpse of the yet-to-be-revealed 999 - which they did tease us with a few times to their credit - bloody geezer riding it though was so fast my cheap disposable wind-on camera didn't stand a chance

A dealership chap told me years ago Ducati's next sports bike would be a "Big Bang" V4. I'm intrigued as to what it'll be as a result but turned off at the prospect of the usual sophistry leading up to the official launch.

A 2017 RSV4 at sub £20k with bargaining offers a V4 with lightweight wheels, full electronics and ohlins. It's a fantastic bike apart from its size (in terms of comfort), bar positioning & colour scheme. Its ride quality is far superior to a 1199 / 1299 currently.

The Ducati V4 base model will presumably have to contend with that as direct competition unless there is something special about its configuration.

we get CH4 over here ( great station too ), but Dispaches last week were reporting on the UK car industry and how UK motor / pcp debt is a whopping 32 billion pounds ! Holy sheeee--at !

Overall UK debt is pushing 200 billion. Showed a young guy bought a souped up little hatch, but his wages in a years salary couldnt cover the car but he still got the loan. Mad.

Yep, PCP is another sub-prime disaster waiting to happen. It all depends on which bank is left holding the parcel when the music stops.

I always buy my cars/bikes outright.

 

It seems the lenders are coming up with new ideas on how to keep the masses in debt.
Yet some never learn and try to appear a lot richer than they actually are...
Bought a brand new Tourneo Custom last year, all the dealers tried to push me to get a loan....they wouldn't understand why I want to pay in full teh value as they could offer with "only" 6%APR or even cheaper PCP..bollocks.
On the other hand I purchased a mint 7 years old Vauxhall Agila 1.2 petrol with only 16k miles on the clock for £3300 for nursery/school runs, bought "old school" petrol as diesel will never warm up on short drives and will clog up. Anyway had 3 neighbours commenting why I haven't bought a brand new car...they all have brand new PCP deals.
See the point? It has nearly became a necessity to get PCP and new vehicle every 3 years.

Pcp is great if you're sensible with it.

I don't actually want to 'own' any vehicle, so for me, despite the fact I can afford to buy them outright I'd rather keep the lump of cash. Especially with how I fear vehicle prices 'may' drop, why would you want to own something that's loosing value hand over fist.

There's many variables however and some people are stupid with it. Very very stupid.

For me though, with how I work things it works perfectly.

There's some absolute bell ends around though who will finance themselves to the tits with ludicrous payments and you do have to ask yourself why?
