  1. If its an 1100 then it wont be WSBK viable...?

  2. Post # 273

  3. It's in the blurb, the V4 Race bike will be 1000cc and higher revving

  4. Possibly 100cc more for the road version to compensate for lower rev limits as compared to 1000cc homologation bike?
Still doesn't make sense to me..why develop 2 engines (well, sort of) for only 100cc difference.
It seems all other manufacturers manage to do with same cc on road and homologation bikes, just adding more exotic materials.
Or it is just to be able to charge extra cash for the "R" bling factor?

  5. So, why 1100 - did they need to to beat the competitions 1000cc bikes?

  7. Is about as ugly as the supersport... They shoulda done a competition to the Italian kids to design a better one (well done audi)... Pleased to own a ducati now if this what coming to future designs.

That video of the engine running sounds to much like our vtwins comparison to other v4 out there

  8. You can guarantee if they've an 1100 cc road version, two years down the line there will be a 1200 cc step change, a la 1098-1198, 1199-1299. So Panigale V4 to ....oh dear that doesn't work too well?

  9. its all very underwhelming eh....the engine if they pull it off will be a dinger.

im trying to find words re the way it looks....sanitised comes to mind (?). Not feeling it at all.

  10. It's only when you see the two bikes together, you realise how bloated the new design is. It's staggering how good the D16RR looked, packaged around a similarly proportioned engine, yet this is such a monumental cock-up. Feel trying to emulate the Panigale design with so many modifications needed to accommodate the engine have stretched it too far, in terms of the baseline. They'd have been better with a clean slate and forget the Pani all together. A 2017 D16RR at Panigale prices, that's what we should be getting!! Not this VFR look-a-like. The increased width of the engine and injector bodies, probably did for the compact monocoque airbox/frame design, now having to sprout two arms instead, more like a jap beam frame design. Plastic exoskeleton layout, as found on the R1 and the Supersport, in my view cheapens it's appearance. Most if not all of the Panigale/1198/998 elegance in terms of form has gone. This is a visually heavy bike to the eye. Not so much a rapier, more a baseball bat.

  11. This is my newly purchased D16RR, she only has 51 miles on her. The design is spot on.

  12. They said it was to achieve the kind of torque levels that street riders want.

  13. Makes the fannygale look pretty

  14. If you put the desmo seat on it, they'd be quite similar I reckon.

  15. id argue that....an extra 100cc of power could be gained with an ecu flash...just listened to the soundbite....sounds a bit neutered somewhat compared to my rsv4 factory....unless it was a heavily baffled system but, if i were putting out a vid to push sales id be going down the 1290 video route when that one they knocked up was flying round the airfield....sounded angry as fuck that did....

  16. How you gonna get 100cc's of extra torque from an ecu reflash?

  17. Oh, thank you Ducati
Why continue with the Panigale name though - new generation and all that - or are they? o_O

  18. I was just going to comment on the sound, it's very twin-like compared to the Aprilia which i think sounds closer in sound to the CrossPlane R1. The extra cc is deffo to protect them for Euro 5 incoming ...

  19. Beauty and the beast. On the left a perfectly proportioned stunning model. On the right, they've tried to shoehorn a size 18 into a size 10 dress. Never gonna work! Looks not so much Panigale more ST4. pile-of-poo.png
