  1. in fairness they ruined the front of the panigale looks when the 1299 came out so.... (ooooh FIGHT!)

I just showed this pic to Mrs C who is not a bikeist at all. Her first words on the new Pani, It looks like a Honda.

  3. A quote from the US forum by an ex-project manager for the Panigale 1199: "In all fairness to the designer who is another friend and very talented, his original sketches were quite different to the final product, and even those were subject to heavy constraints/limitations. Due to a number of factors beyond his control he should not be judged by this."

  4. As a 1299S Owner, I agree. The 1199 is prettier at the front. But neither are as pretty as my old white 1198. Nor any of those as semi inducing as my 916.

That is a monstrous carbuncle and would give the Mk1 Multistrada a run for its money.

  5. In red, viewed from the side, the Strad (its name hence forth) looks like the slightly porky NR750 spam tin Honda

  6. Now that really is going too far old chap...:scream:

  7. This is the 1st time I've visited this thread and had a good look at the bike.

I think it looks awful  Fat and very un-Ducati like. :worried: If it didn't have the paint scheme it does, I would swear it was a Fireblade or some other such rice rocket.

That being said, I thought the 999 looked like a dog's dinner at launch , so it may be a grower, but I can't see it.

  8. The 999 was striking but initially unloved - this is very samey so I think you are right :)

  9. Sod the looks, what other manufacturer has been brave enough to bring us MotoGP-based engines in road bikes that we can buy? Honda have suggested they will for years or rather the media have but we got nothing apart from another wanky Fireblade with some fancy suspension on it, kawasaki went bonkers and released the H2R which weighs more than the typical house, I guess Yamaha were kinda close with their R1M but that's more of a Superbike than a road-going MotoGP-based design.

I say hats off to Ducati, first they brought us the Desmosedici and now they've brought us err another Desmosedici, well done Ducati I'm sure it'll rip the sh*t out of pretty much anything out there :upyeah:

  10. Audi Marketing? :)

  11. The ethics of Ducati as long as I can remember. Just like when the panigale was launched, the looks will be a grower and, with an Aruba paint scheme, it'll look great. Especially if Chas is on it and winning the world title ;)

  12. Its hard to take a view on a couple of grainy photos anyway. Let's wait to see what its like in the flesh first.

With any bike these days, i suspect the packaging of everything legally required is hard enough to do as it is without having to worry about the aesthetics of the bike.

The engine is 100cc bigger to allow them to increase the stroke which automatically means more torque. Reading the blurb it also mentions having to reduce the piston speed for a reliable road bike.

  13. No mate, fact :upyeah:

  14. Yep. True I was just demonstrating a point that for a 100cc is it worth it....nothing more.

  15. We know very well you did not meant what you wrote above :):)

DR16RR and RCV213 are the only bikes that have a hint off motogp technology/ and posibly couple of parts.
Motogp technology in a 20-30k bike? Probably the only thing in common is the both are using air fuel mixture to run the engine.
To be honest I would rather not have any bike that has motogp techology as I could not afford to replace the engine for the price of a house every 2 years :)
if I put all the hype aside it basically has 13Hp? more than the original S1000rr, and this was presented 8 years ago.....

  16. I still can't see the point....the tuono and rsv4 have both existed as litre bikes for years before the recent 1100 tuono. And the rsv4 is still a litre bike....there's no need for an 1100 rsv4....

  17. I guess it all depends, 'back in the day' we were all excited about fitting 944cc kits to our 904cc bikes and that's less than half the amount, just saying...

  18. Make a street fighter 1100 and then you're talking....

  19. I dunno mate, when the head internals are pretty similar, bore size the same, crank rotation the same, engine positioning the same etc, not sure how you can argue that it's not 'MotoGP-based'?
