  1. 8 years ago bikes didn't have to pass Euro 4 tests with Euro 5 looming.

  2. TBF traction control and many modern technology improvements started in MGP.

  3. That's the thing isn't it... I suspect they had to choose between having a hideous can like the GSXR or trying to cram all of that in and have underslung exhausts. Might have made the wrong choice there...

  4. I've been watching brocks performance channel on you tube about the gsxr. I think they did the right thing with the pipe but the headers are still restricted....plus the biggie is how the throttle body butterflies actually close a bit at open throttle...theyve made some massive gains with it...very interesting to watch the whole series....next one is on tuning...

  5. I asked this and was told that they were sticking with V4, and also that nobody had even mentioned calling it L4!

  6. No.

The engine is called the Desmosedici Stradale (Desmo-sixteen Road) like the current Panigale engine is called the SuperQuadro (super-square).

The bike will be called the Panigale V4, as it continues the Panigale line (hence the same shapes) but with a new engine.

  7. I read on one of the Italian bike sites that Ducati are holding firm for official launch on Nov 5th at EICMA

The mag have confirmed the bike is named as the "Panigale V4".

There has been no comment from Ducati puporting to the current "leaked" pictures. But they will reveal full spec / data etc 5th Nov.

I reckon even the field mice who prowl the streets of Bologna will be allowed to speak of the bike til then. Dealees even more so.

  8. i liked the idea of the v4, especially the variable height intake stacks, but you know what really spoilt it for me? lorenzos hand on it! yuk. :mask:

  10. to be fair, thats a bad angle on the pani, and the D16RR looks like a cheap chinese motorcycle compared to an 1199. Just sayin an that

  11. Agree, probably 90% of development takes place in motogp and then comes down to road in a more budget version, but manufacturers claiming is motogp technology is pure marketing.
My point was that is not the same level of technology...a tc for road is not the same quality as a motogp one.
Look at the wheelie control...motogp uses a hell of a lot more algorithms/sensors when working out how much wheelie to allow and also that rod to measure fork travel. Not present at all on a road bike.
Not huge differences but as they say is the last 10% that makes the big difference.

  12. Looking forward to seeing it with mirrors indicators and numberplate.

  13. And big euro whatever chimneys for exhausts hanging off the side :poop:

  14. However you look at it 40,000 people a year dying from illness brought on by exhaust related emissions is unacceptable when it can easily be stopped.

  15. Yeah and how much does a MotoGP bike cost compared to a road bike?

    Eh? Eh? :innocent:

  16. That was the most complimentary one I could find. Ostensibly, it's a much bigger engine being shoe-horned into a design that was conceived for a much narrower footprint. I still maintain that following the Panigale bloodline is a mistake. If you are going to herald in a huge step change such as a mass produced V4 engine to power your flagship model, why not create something new and fresh as opposed to regurgitating a 5 year old design. Possibly why no one butts an eye lid when MV poop out yet another F4 variant. Its a great design but it's married to the original mechanical architecture and works best with it. Try and mess with the fundamentals and make a square peg fit in a round hole and its only ever going to end in disaster. The photos that have been leaked thus far have been universally panned. If as I suspect the tooling has been already implemented on what we now know was a compromised design, then they the factory are going to have to ride this one out until they can come up with a worthier replacement to introduce an all new engine to the mass produced market. Budgets and management have designed this bike. I don't see any passion in this design. More a quick fix to house the new engine in a passable host. Too bad they dont exercise market/customer research as they would have known well in advance this design was clearly heading down the wrong path, before committing to production.

  17. How else would you prefer them to die?

    • Face Palm Face Palm x 1
  18. All of them died from motorcycle exhausts. It's a little known fact that Winston Churchill, Magic Johnson, and the black and white dolphin thing from free willy all died as a direct result of riding Honda CBR600RRs.

Get the fuck outta here ya goof.

  19. Yes please

  20. Due to the position of the sump, which means it forms a V when in the frame I meant - looks that way anyhoo...
