Had to call 999 - the hole in the ceiling caught fire Luckily the fire station is just round the corner No hoses needed thank god and from calling to them leaving under 20 mins Fantastic service / would have been a different story if I hadn't been sitting underneath the burning ceiling ☹️
Long story but started with one of the plumbers who are fitting new central heating in putting his foot through the ceiling and a light dislodging - scary stuff best not to dwell on it too much - smoke alarms didn't go off as smoke was being pulled out through open window in roof void Hoses were disappointingly small Insurance could be fun have to wait and see.
Could have been a lot worse.Tell your Plumber you will not sue if he does your work for nothing. If not,see post above. Good that no one was hurt and the fire was contained.
Looking at your photo your ceiling seems to be not plaster but fibre board is it the fibres that caught fire. Ive been a Decorator for 34 years and I've only been asked once if i have Public liability insurance
I'm back home after two days in South Wales. I'm knackered. I'm out of practice driving more than two hours nowadays.
Yes it's an Victorian extension on a 200 year old listed cottage that was once three houses - it's all character apparently They don't like being 'modernised' and fight back !
Dug out my Hobie-outback mirage kayak with dual drive system (paddle & pedal drive). And broke in my new dry-suit. The Kokatat radius with centurion PFD & a load of other gear to update my water safety. Down to Southampton tomorrow to do my VHF radio licensing qualification for some eventual; sea-kayaking catch&cook shenanigans. I feel like I'm dying most days so embracing the good times & trying to achieve the odd scaled down dream is a must do.
My partial fibre broadband went live today. I'm now getting 40mb instead of the 3mb I was. Not as fast as some of you, but I feel like I'm driving the Starship Enterprise today. Make it so.......
I haven't worn shots since I was broke and needed to earn a flight back from Bangkok. But that's a story for another time....
Yesterday I spent most of the day finishing off painting the Garage. Took 3 days in total but Mrs M is super happy with the difference it made... Still not 100% but next year everything will get another coat and should look spot on Before (old photo as this is the only one I could find) After.
