I won't bother. We are not a German colony. How the people of a sovereign and independent United Kingdom choose to govern themselves is not a matter for German corporate business. They don't get a say, their opinions are irrelevant and they will not be consulted.
I presume these people you're talking too are CEO'S? Perhaps Commercial directors? At the very least people involved heavily with the strategic direction of BMW, Mercedes and VAG group?
It's fine, some people get rattled by negotiation rhetoric and by slime balls such as Juncker, he's a bully and that's all he knows
You opinion will be irrelevant too as May appears to want to do what the fuck she wants regardless of what the elected Parliament thinks.
The elected parliament keep supporting her by votes, they seem to agree with her when it comes to the numbers from all sides of the house.
I'm struggling here, Who is it that you do side with? You may not like the fact we're leaving the EU but are you seriously saying you'd prefer to follow Junckers line? If not, and not May, then I presume the well thought out labour position which I believe is currently 'cake and eat it'? You might not like May, and that's fine, but given this is happening (leaving the EU) then tell me what position you do support because it's confusing?
I want to stay in the EU or failing that stay within the Customs Union and continue to allow pretty much free movement of people. I'm still not 100% certain we will leave because i still feel there may well be yet another election before we reach March 2019.
There will not be another election before 2019 unless may decides to go, and no one from her side is stepping forward to take over the brexit transition as pm, this is her job till she decides otherwise or 2022 Nothing wrong with you wanting to stay, 48% said they did but I'm not sure if we had another vote if they would get 48% again, junker is the remainers worst nightmare doing their wish more damage than any other politician. The eu are unwilling to bend, they can't, they set their rules so tight that to let us cherry pick would throw every agreement out and the eu countries would then all leave to then renegotiate separately for every country, that would decimate the eu top table and its project. The U.K.'s position is clearer than a clear thing, we want to leave the eu project but given we helped build it, wish to remain friends and working allies The eu's position under junker is, you are either with us or against us.
Staying in the EU at this stage means being prepared for further integration, that's not hysteria, that's the main man saying that publicly. I sincerely cannot see any future vote, whether referendum or for a political party, ending any different now. It would be a majority vote for leave especially since Junckers speech. He's already riled a few other eu members with his speech but he won't admit fault and will publicly push on come what may. As for staying only within the customs union I'm afraid that's just a none starter as well. https://www.theguardian.com/comment...le-market-customs-union-brexit-britain-europe We can have an agreement with the customs union, our own deal if you will which is what we'll be attempting. I get that people don't like the conservatives, but whether it looks like it or not, they're still the only party capable of doing what needs to be done in this negotiation as at least they're prepared to walk and not be walked over.
Sorry but it strikes me they don't have an actual clue what they are doing. I'm not a party political person, i vote for what i believe is best for me and the Country as a whole. But Davis and May are being shown to be headless and clueless chickens. If i am truly honest i doubt there is anyone capable of sorting the mess we are in. May has admitted this week that we need to stay with as free as possible access to the single market.. and in the next breathe says we should walk away if the deal isn't right for us. Surely the EU negotiators will feel exactly the same. Which means a no deal is more than likely. Despite what anyone says, that will hurt the UK most of all as we will be left with no trade deals anywhere, a falling pound and major employers looking to walk away. To halt a sinking pound the B of E would have to hike interest rates big time, making the problems even worse. Toyota are already ringing alarm bells about a no deal. All the other car manufacturers will feel the same. As have the major banks. Anyway that's my say for this weekend. I've got more important things to do, like riding bikes and partying.
To be fair, Juncker is merely voicing candidly the founding objective of the European Project which was to bind the nations of Europe into a single state and create was a third (now fourth) cold war superpower to compete with Russia and the USA. It has nothing to do with free trade, free movement or freedom in any sense, or economics in general. He isn't departing from the script, he's reading it publicly which he wasn't supposed to do.
And that is the sticking point. Juncker decided to push the big chested rhetoric early doors and it hasn't worked, as did Guy Verhofstadt who's equally been as patronising and dismissive of the British. Both adamant that continued bullying and further scare tactics would derail proceedings. Christ, they've even wheeled in Tony Blair in some misguided attempt to cool talks of leaving by sending him in with the false promise of 'possible' renegotiated free movement terms across the EU as a whole (and yes, Tony was merely a messenger) But none of it has stuck, and even TB's 'offer' has been ignored for the lie it is. Ultimately Juncker can stand there all he wants saying how marvelous and united the EU currently are, but that's a far cry from the truth. When real German jobs are on the line and it's because of a negotiation position of pure stubbornness held by Juncker et al, then I personally think it will be him moved aside, not Theresa May and not the conservatives. He's on thin ice, mark my words
I think what was telling was the insistence on a divorce settlement claiming the morally approved projects from 2020 should have the U.K. paying towards them even though since the vote and until out current commitments end in 2020, would have been 4 years notice we were leaving. Such is the desire of the eu above all else to keep the facade going that despite claiming they need our money, they will not be removing the U.K.'s 73 m.e.p posts and all the costs that go with 73 m.e.p's, their staff and all their expenses but instead a few other countries will get one or two posts and then the eu are after trans european posts for the rest, effectively putting in the european top tables candidates into the european parliament This will make you see just where Junkers is taking the eu https://www.theguardian.com/politic...-european-parliament-seats-eu-wide-candidates
