I was promising to do a vid of the bike with termi system on to show how smooth & progressive the bike is at low revs. Was going to post onto youtube with a link. I seem to be doing a lot of going to,s. Out on Sat to east coast so will try & set gopro on handlebars pointing at speedo, will have to behave though.
Hi Steviegtr, Took my DVT base model beginning of August. Ride it mostly in sport mode on A-roads and motorways, however in town or heavy traffic found the urban mode really useful. Left the throttle response LOW as standard in urban. Only changes I did so far to the settings were leaving everything in ABS level 3, just a precaution until regain full confidence of riding in the rain again. The bike is stunning, a disguised sport bike with a lot more comfort. With my particular stature (168 cm - God knows the imperial for that, sorry!) the small adjustment for the windscreen works very well in windy days. Sporty ride, it handles like my loved old R1 on the roads. A stupid unavoidable comparison here, the DVT brings me similarities to the R1 crossplane, (I know, concepts nothing similar) in terms of "engine transformation" in low/high revs. Absolutely loved it! Having an issue currently with the key fob battery running out. (2 new batteries in 1 month), but I am trying a few things suggested here on the Forum, like leaving the key further distance when the bike is garaged). Last Sunday, after a stressful weekend, managed to go out for a quick ride, and in my hurry to hit the road, forgot the mobile phone. Then, as my fears of moving from Japanese bikes to a bike that is not notorious for her reliability, engine malfunction light came on. Until I could find a safe place to park, engine temperature jumped from 87C to 120C and Hi temp warning started flashing. Stopped, smokey bike on the hard shoulder made me ashamed from all those car drivers I passed instants ago. Lots of coolant fluid everywhere. Looked for stone chips on radiator, could not find (Good!). Shortening the long story how I managed to get back without a phone, next day, Ducati service assistance (AA) collected the bike from home in 15 min from my call and took to the dealer. The dealer called me within 1 hour from when the bike arrived to them saying a hose split behind radiator, all covered by warranty. Just a tip my dealer gave me when I got my dvt, keep your keyfob away from your mobile as he said they interfere and drain the batteries. Might be a load of bollocks but mine is nearly 2 years old now and I've not changed the battery once after following this advice.
Oops Rover. Hope it gets fixed ok. Unfortunates of mechanical things I guess. Could have happened to any bike. We are out Saturday for the day. Going east I think. Probably end up in Scarborough.
Full Termi system installed today. Of course it was raining when I picked it up this am and had to ride into work. Cleared up quickly but not much opportunity to do anything beyond freeway slog and lane split. Initial impression is that the bike feels a bit lighter (I know it is, but likely a placebo effect). Wasn't hot today so no idea if it will blow a bit less heat when it is above 80 or 90F. Interesting that the temp units reset - I assume when they flash with the upmap it resets to original defaults (degrees C). Acceleration feels smoother through the revs. It isn't much louder than stock (has baffles in), but I think the stock exhaust actually sounds pretty good. Will see how it feels when flogging it a bit.
Hi Stevie, Yeap! It was simple this time, and I am sure it will be fine for the remaining thousands of miles I intent to put on. The electronics is what I fear most. As the bike is still in the workshop, I have just received a call that my heated grips that was late by the ducati's back order, arrived and will be fitted at the time the bike is there. Hurray! Good news then! You enjoy your ride Saturday, ride safe! Never been to your area riding. Hopefully the Multi will allow me now.
Oh yes you will love it. The smoothness from low down is amazing, no more throttle on off characteristics. I have the baffle out. Going up gears with small throttle openings, if timed right gives a lovely pop from can. Downchanging from high revs too awesome. Only thing that's weird is when slowing down to creeping pace, the engine breaking force stops at around 2750 rpm & bike feels like its had a bit of gas. Before the engine breaking dropped down to very low revs. Also when starting bike cold or warm it does not rev up & then drop back anymore. Just starts & sits at around 800-900 rpm. Enjoy.
Electronics are supposed to be better now it is the Bosche system, fingers crossed. All we seem to see on here is odd sensor failure. Heated grips a good addition, I,m a wimp so use mine a lot. Full is way too hot for this time of year.
Pretty much spot-on what I'm experiencing so far. Much smoother down low and no real lumps. Still a bit of a flat spot between 5-6k but it is subtle. The pop on shift is a nice touch. Agree that the cold start is much more consistent. Not sure about heat - maybe blowing a bit less but fall is upon us and it hasn't been hot yet (we'll get a Santa Ana spike soon). Also not sure there is a significant bump in torque or hp. But it says "RACE" when I power up Will get it into the canyons tomorrow. I think in the long run the smoother power delivery will be a win. And if I'm really feeling randy I can pull the baffle.
At least try the baffle out. Naughty but nice. Going to have a go at making a baffle with a shorter tube & bigger diameter outlet. Heated grips had on a few times mainly to dry gloves. Forgot with baffle out rear number plate back gets black.
Oy you. I must be cold blooded. God iv,e had em on twice. Won,t dare use them again in case anyone sees me.
