Nice ice creams at Tintern. Road from Monmouth to Chepstow. There is also a nice B road from Chepstow to Usk for another day,for you.
The lads i was with said that they literally stay in Wales for the minimal amount of time as the plod are cunts (which ive heard on lots of different occasions from different people)....i think the speeds we were going it was very minimal..
There are so many roads and so little plod I love riding in Wales. The roads are smoother and very technical.
Yes, having never rode over there before there really was quite a mix. There were alot of sections that i didnt like (high hedges and blind corners) they knew the road and i didnt so quite frequently they were disappearing into blind corners at 100+ so i had to back off as i didnt know what was round the corner then cane the arse off of mine to catch up...!
That where trusting who you ride with, and knowing you are similar pace, really helps. Sure it’s a risk, but then so is more than 50mph on an A road with fields either side. I miss riding with my Hants mates, years of group rides (occasionally a little mad!) but always fast. Lucky to find a couple of people locally like @t3scn who rides my pace
Meh - its ok....i just put it down to "experience gathered" ive got mate who i go out with reasonably regularly and both of us tend to ride steady most of the time then, have and occasional out and out blast for a few mins if the surroundings and traffic lend themselves to it then cool down again....that way the ride is a bit more pleasurable...rather than sheer out and out speed i like to concentrate on body position, road position etc etc...
You can have both No one should ever feel pressured to ride fast imho. A group should have a few rules (I know, we all hate rules!) to cover not leaving anyone behind and overtakes for a slower rider in front.
Well, there was kind of.... There was one lad who was on an 848 (really nice bloke) and he was pootling along at his own pace. The fast group, when they got to a certain junction they'd stop and wait. I was at some points kind of in the middle as i would get stuck behind cars and they'd take off in front, id loose them, hit a roundabout or junction, not know where i was (really - no clue - all the villages were welsh for the first part) and then the lad at the back would roll up after 5 mins and then gesture one way or the other and then id be off again...i think at one point we were just lucky where i pulled up to a roundabout on my own, waited, Pete pulled up, both of us had no idea where to go then, the others turned up behind us as they went a different route!! - it was an experience i must say!
I don't ride around blind corners at 100+mph even when I know the road. I'm waaaaay the F to old for that caper!
General rule of thumb is ‘straight on’ at junctions and roundabouts. Otherwise hang back and wait for the rider behind. Worked for us for years and years....and we only lost those who we wanted to lose, eh @Rman
My wife suggested I need to do something about my temper, so I phoned an "Anger Management" hotline this morning. "What the fuck do you want now?" was the advisor's first response
Y'know i must confess i was kind thinking about it when i ended up on my own on the way back (everyone else had broken off) i was thinking "was that a bit too full on?" or when a bunch of lads go for a blat is that the way it usually goes...?"
