I think its a good cause but way too hipster for me....saw a few of them yesterday after coming back from a sunday morning blast...
anyhu, what i have done today, is after nearly being killed on the monster by a white van man who tried his best to put me into the medium barrier resulting in an emergency stop and me stalling the bike and the bike not starting again, was to stand on the side of the a40 for 3 hrs waiting on the AA. battery fucked... so i missed a days work/pay and spent £43 on a new bat (thank you halfords card, the were £68). i then spent the next 3 hrs on the phone to the bike and van insurers trying to work out why my premiums have gone up 300% for the renewals that are due this week... despite my van and bike policies being entirely separate (a point they made when trying to use the no claims bonus from one for the other) a claim on the bike has both policies going from around 400 to 1200 a piece... turns out the 8 years protected no claims bounus on the van dont mean shit.. i still have 8 years no claims but it has nothing to do with my premium???? W.T.F???????? so basically the $4500 they paid out for the theft of my 749 was just a loan that they will recoup with interest over the next 5 years (as long as it will be on file) how does a no fault of my own theft of a bike make my van more of a risk to insure?
Today I learnt that the school that 3 out of the 5 of our ankle biters attend went in to lockdown very shortly after they arrived there this morning. It appears that one of the year 11 pupils decided it was perfectly acceptable to take a kitchen knife from home, walk in to the school and violently attack the schools Welfare Officer... I can only praise the school, local authority and emergency services in dealing with this incident impeccably and being absolutely brilliant with the parents and pupils following this incident. It is terrible to think what the victims family have been dealing with today though, and my thoughts have been with them throughout today. The lady involved is a truly lovely person whom worked at the school when I attended the school and it begs belief that anyone could ever hold any grievance with her. I do hope that the offender whom has made this a very unsettling day for the school, local community and the pupils is dealt with appropriately and justice is served!
IMO anyone who consistently rides like that will either get banned (or worse) or get hurt bad (or worse). That shite needs taking on track.
mate that is horrible... hope your kids, well, any ones kids there were not too involved in the situation. as far as the offender being dealt with appropriately, im sure he/she will receive counselling, told that its not abnormal behaviour given the pressures modern kids have to face and will maybe get their whole family into a better "environment" .
Fortunately the incident happened whilst the pupils were in the first lesson of the day so none were subject to witnessing the horrific assault. As much as I would really like to stand here and disagree with you re: the offender (16y/o girl) not getting what they deserve... I honestly can't as I'd be suprised if you were wrong and justice was served. Unfortunately it is the other school staff and pupils that have to return there tomorrow with a niggling doubt hanging over their safety in the work place and place of study.
Meh...im kinda happy I kept pace but wouldn't Want to do it again...in all fairness they ( and i) didn't go tearing through villages or any areas that had any amount of people...speed limits were adhered to.
When you and I rode out, I don't think we were close to what's being described here. This sounds like pre-kids early 20's type riding.
We didn't ride far tbh and they were very busy roads. Those mad mad rides, which this could have been, tend to be max on straights: not as much fun doing that these days, but corners are corners, theres only so fats you can take one on your side of the road
And I tend to ride to the pace of those following or with me, no point leaving anyone behind if I'm riding with them
im glad no lil uns were subject to this ... although this sort of thing is horrible and can affect even the most peaceful areas on occasion, despite what the media would have you believe, these sort of things are no more common place than they have been historically . as in bad stuff has happened for ever ... that may be of little consolation but what it does mean is the likelyhood of it happening again is hopefully very slim.
