  1. Hi all,

I am new to the forum and was hoping to get some advice if poss, my head's in the shed, I have been to riders in Cardiff to purchase a 848 dark (2010) that I had agreed a good deal on but while I was there test rode a 848SF (2012) just out of curiosity and walked out with neither, both are great fun but I liked the usability of the SF, has anyone on this forum had the privilege of owning both bikes and could give some insight of the day to day ownership with pros and cons on each.

I do mostly weekend riding and a couple tours per year,

Much appreciated for the help :upyeah:

  2. I only have a dark 848 SF so not much help - other than to say I love it to pieces

Went to WDW on it and it tours pretty well - and my back wouldnt make it on a sportsbike these days

Can you get to ride them both again back to back for a decent spell?

  3. Welcome Baz. As Char said, the only way to be sure would be to test ride the 2 back to back, over a decent distance to find out which suits you best! Whichever you chose will certainly put a smile on your face!:upyeah:

  4. I'm an old giffer and I ride a 848 Evo Corse. Took three weeks to get used to the more extreme position over JIL4s I've had before but it's all day comfortable to me now. Can't speak for the 848SF but it looks like fun too.

  5. The SF is a cracking bike......but my advise to anyone who likes sports bikes....ride them until your body won't let you anymore, then go for the more sensible options later in life, as you can't do it the other way round.

  6. Thats my thoughts exactly. Though I do like cafe racer styles and have been tempted on more than one occasion.

  7. Thanks all,

Got a double test tomorrow, still think I got a bit more of the out and out sports left in me yet, just had a temporally wobble..

  8. i know which one i would like to dribble over in the garage, caress and polish, finishing off with a delicate rub with a soft cloth

  10. I have come from sports bikes and my last being a 2011 fireblade so i wanted something more fun to ride day to day. I rode the 848 SF and was smitten, i have had it now for some 3 months and have put over 5.5K miles on it and still love it!!!!!!

  12. Can you let us know how you got on please?

  13. Hi Gavlar,

Going to go for the SF, both bikes was fantastic to ride and very similar, one factor is the SF is a demo and at similar money to the 2010 dark and Is a fair bit cheaper on insurance, alway rode jap super bikes and I am blown away by how these bikes sound and feel I really could not separate them today, love the look of he dark by fancy a change.....hope I don't regret it....

    Thanks...

  14. Just enjoy it. :upyeah:

  17. Jesus I'm 33 and find sports bikes are not for me anymore multi does everything. Now where's my Zimmer;)
    Enjoy the bike.

  18. Blimey Ive got 20 years on you and I love riding sports bikes. You're obviously an old giffer in waiting. Have you tried a VFR and slippers?

  19. Ha I know. Always liked idea of more upright adventure type stuff but they always lacked power until multi. Rode my mates s1000rr back end of summer and was mental but after 20 miles wrists ached back and neck too!! Love the look of them still. I've never done so many miles in all weathers and a well ridden multi can give some sports bikes a surprise.

  20. Lol I was just thinking sports bikes are for the under 25's and over 50's

They don't do it for me
