I thought i had a bad year, But this puts things into perspective! I hope things work out and you make a full recovery.
Severity of suffering cannot be quantified, as there will always be someone in a worse state than you, but it doesn't mean your own pain is somehow less valid by comparison. Something can appear quite minor but it can be a huge and very real deal for the person going through it. Hope 2013 is better for everyone
Sounds awful and so unfair, really hope 2013 will be a great year for your recovery, and getting your life back to normal Emm
Why shouted at? All this "shouldn't do this, shouldn't do that" is a crock. If you feel able to ride while pregnant, do so - there are far riskier and more harmful things that people do every day while "with child". In regard to Emm's shunt, unfortunately there is an increasing trend for people doing things with zero thought of the consequences, especially on the roads. It's been 12 years since I got collected by a Hilux driver who wasn't paying attention, and I've only regained full movement of my shoulder earlier this year. Ironically (and unfortunately), broken bones seem to be easier to fix than muscle/ligament damage. If they took just a moment to consider the consequences of their actions (or indeed a punishment that reflected the damage they had caused) they'd definitely be a lot more careful! Oh, and fluoxetine is nasty stuff even when it does "work". I remember very little of my early 20's.
It took me 18months to run again after my accident that fractured my ankle in four places. The bones had healed within 6 weeks
I would never have guessed going by some of your recent posts  Good luck on the road to recovery.
I hear that one. When I was 16 I broke my ankle in three places and my leg just above it. Even now on a cold day it gives me some pain. Guess what...... its the opposite leg to the one I've just injured. Cant wait to get old!!
Good luck with the recovery Pixie, it all takes time and care. I broke my right femur when i was 10, in hospital for 6 1/2 weeks, crutches for 3 months, couldn't run for 12 months, and by then i had wasted away to no muscle at all, so took years to recover full fitness really, psycologically a difficult recovery too, still don't "trust" my right leg as much as my left even today at 45 y.o.
Cheers Doodle ... And yes I think in the early 90's if you went to your GP with a cold you'd have been part of the Prozac generation .. I think loads of us where on it ... Never again!!!!!! I had stuff to get me asleep stuff to wake me up ... It was hell.. One day I binned the lot . Hope you continue to get better Pixie Eat good stuff and get lots of love Thatl make you better x
Pixie, i hope this year brings you better luck, how you managed to sat positive for so long is astonishing. I applaud you for your personal strength and courage it took you to let everyone on the forum know what and how you have been through and felt. Hope this year is better for you and you get what you want. regards hyabusa47
Had my appointment yesterday with the trauma and orthopaedic consultant it went very well, he's going to write his report and he advised that physio is not an option now as its not worked and i definitely do need further treatment of some sort to manage my pain. He's going to look at my options so I should hear back soon.
Hi Pixie are you under pain management ? If not they can send you there. They use lots of different options to help you not just meds. It really helps . If they don't suggest this ask if they have a Pain management clinic. It may be really beneficial to you. I hope they get you sorted x
Hey up cock, you've certainly got true Yorkshire grit to come through it so far, keep it going and you'll win the battle, keep smiling
wondered where you had been, hope you are ok soon, but i suspect it will be a long proscess, after my last bike accident, non fault like yours, i spent 3 months in hospital, only recently got payout after 5 years after accident, after accident trauma is not good, hope everything works out good for you : ) kev
hope you get sorted.......... know what its like getting yourself back together after an accident physicaly and mentaly dealing with solicitors doesnt help either just think of a goal at the end of it all and look for the light
You could try getting a referral to a pain management clinic they deal with neuro and physical trauma they look at the whole body rather than just the immediate injury.
