Is it just me, or is there a lack of love for the Pani? All the other superbikes, 851,916,996,998, 999,1098,1198 (and the female equivalent) all seem to be 'loved". The Pani, while "respected" does not seem to be loved.
Lack of trellis frame, no under seat exhaust, jap feel to the whole thing not surprising it's not loved.
Normally not loved by older riders who would believe that anything other than the bikes they own are no good. Having had a fair few Ducs, I prefer modern bikes as I favour progression. Still like some of the older bikes, 1198 etc but would never go back. Older headlights , shorter service intervals and no way I’d ever like the old belts again, that’s one of many positives of the Pani.
I’m lucky to be the custodian of a 2001 748R and a 2015 899 Pani. I love them both but in different ways. The Pani is the modern pinnacle of design, advanced technology and breathtaking performance, what’s not to love. The 748R was pushing the boundaries in its day, could I afford one back then....no chance. I lusted after the stunning Ducati’s from the late 90’s, now I have one, beautiful from every angle. Both bring a smile every time I ride either of them and without fail I get a thumbs up from a passer by. I think it’s easy to bias love towards what we remember but fail to appreciate what we have here and now ... In my humble opinion, the Pani is awesome and I love it.
I love my Wife and Son. Can’t say I’ll ever say that about Tin. Do find people calling bikes “she” wonky, but each to thier own, just expect to see them on the register in the long run next to Jimmy...
Well, in my defence I do sometimes wish I'd stuck to my guns and bought an R1M or a 1098R. But my mates nagged me to buy the pani. However I am warming to it now Ive fixed its faults. Heat, bar vibes, short screen, seat. Plus its faster than mates Hp4, which is nice. But so was my 1198 as mate is slow. Hehe.
I quite like the panigale, 'love the looks' and being honest I'd much rather own one to ride than any of the older models mentioned. Obviously if I was investing money in a bike you'd buy the older generation, but as I'm not I'd buy a panigale....maybe
I've never loved a bike. Love is for living things that love me back. Or in the case of some girls, ignor my texts.
Agreed, bikes are just bikes. You can 'love' the ride, the feel, the noise and the looks, but it's not real love is it. Don't get me started on the mythical Ducati 'passion' and 'character' either
