  1. Sorry for all the questions but i am a bit confused wih this one.My 848 came with a rizoma race shift leaver, now i have never used 1 up 5 down and i dont think i will get on with it.Is my only option to get a standard linkage ?,if so anyone want to do a swap or sell me there standard set up,Thanks.

  2. I think I've got all the bits for a standard setup (lever, linkage, hanger, peg etc) if you get stuck.

Im still contemplating selling my complete DP rear sets too.

  3. Doh, and I've just dipped into the pennies to buy a new car.

  4. I would personally try and keep at it with the race shift it does take a bit of getting used to but, i find it much better now. I now find it harder to get my head back into normal road patern when i jump on anything else.

  5. it does , but riding different bikes is sometimes darn difficult... thank god for slipperclutches !

  6. Yeah I normally end up making a tit of myself when I have a go on anything else it useually pulling up to a junction or round a bout and stalling it because I am in 6th instead of 1st. D'oh

  7. When I started nearly all bikes were one-up on the right. Only later was it gradually standardised (perversely in my view) as one-down on the left. It always seemed more "natural" to cross-coordinate the left hand clutch and right foot gears; it feels awkward to have both clutch and gears on the same side. But you get used to it, and school yourself not to get it wrong.

  8. I was used to have both street and race bike with 1st down up to 2008, then on the race bike I moved to 1st up and once get used (I spent the first track day talking to myself into the helmet "gear up" every breaking) I will never get back, and actually it was quite rare I miss a gear switching bikes.

  9. I think if i was a seasoned track rider i would give it a go,but i will have a enough to take in first time out,i get a bit nervey just thinking about it lol.

  10. Thanks, would love some dp rear sets, but i think there will be a bit of a fight for them if you decide to sell lol

  11. No worries, I've got all the bits you would need, whichever way you decide to go.

  12. I made the switch a while back on my track/race bike. It takes a bit of getting used to but I made a minor modification to keep me right.

If anything I struggle more now when I jump on my duc. I have to think about normal shift to make sure I don't hit the limiter at the wrong time.

  13. When I took a Streetfighter out for a test the dealer forgot to tell me the gear linkage was set up for race shift! The first few minutes of my riding were very interesting!!!

  14. Once you have established something in the memory it takes a considerable conscious effort to override the un -conscious .
I have had a devil of a job when riding bikes with gear lever/rear brakes on different sides, but what really drove me mad for several months was when I moved the position of my fridge in the kitchen that had remained in the same place for years. Every time I went to get some milk out of the fridge I could feel the conflict in my brain as my body started to move towards the old position of the fridge whilst my brain was screaming out ' no it's not there'.

I find making the adaption to driving on the r.h.s effortless when abroad, the problem is the next morning when I set off, and all the maniacs are driving towards me on the wrong side of the road!

  15. Same thing-kept on going to the dishwasher for milk, doh.Had to make a real effort with the brake/gear lever when riding old British bike-tended to use the front brake more!

When am I going to feast my eyes on your Triton?

  17. I once borrowed for a few days a 1930s BSA 3-wheeled car on which the foot pedals were: accelerator in the middle, foot brake on the right. That took a bit of getting used to.
