4 years owning Ducati,s and its good bye from me . 2014-16 Diavel Strada, 2016-now Multistrada Enduro. I loved the diavel but needed something more capable of Touring. Enduro initially started off as the best bike in the world but slowly started to show cracks. Apart from recalls and fuel senders the bike just doesn't do what its sold to do. Numerous long tours just shows the suspension isn't up to the job when 2 up and with luggage. That combined with the lack of wind protection on the long motorway bits just made it a bike I couldn't live with any more. Residual is atrocious after 12 months loosing over 33% of new cost so have gone back to BMW where I have been before . Buyer beware. will consider a second hand Diavel next year as a second bike.
Thought we would try the R1200Rt as had a Gs Adventure previously. Obviously comes with pipe and slippers but seems to do exactly what it says on the tin.
OK I agreed with this, but then remembered that I'm a BMW owner so I retracted it... GS = Mega (head) Ducati = Mega (heart) My own opinion after coveting a Multi and then trying one is that it's like a crap GS (sorry). Ducati make many very good bikes, the Multi is a great bike but given it's purpose I found it a bit shouty and primadonna as a tourer and some of the areas of finish just didn't look like they'd go the distance either. Stick around, this is the best forum for bikes. Ducatis are amazing bikes and the owners are a passionate bunch, Diavel... looks like a mutant but rides like it's been inhaling helium all afternoon and now fancies a beer and a kebab. Can't even look at one, terrible fuel economy but by Hector they bloody go... Good luck with the RT. Kind of feeling myself looking sneakily at them when nobody is watching... (and it you are a Policeman... why do they call them safety cameras / vans rather than revenue cameras / vans? Who actually feels or is safer because of them?)
Both the ones I have ridden vibrated through bars, arse and pegs, and by fuck, that parts bin Panzer tank is fugley!!
Nope, still a piss eyed munter with the radiators off an ER foden, a sub frame made from scaffold and handlebars from the JCB Jack hammer range.
+1 with @Wayne58's observations plus I think the ride is harsh and who the feck wants a qs on the road, but one thing I found in its favour is torque, you can come down quite low on the rpm in top open the throttle and it just pulls away. p.s. It is bloody ugly
