just got my streetfighter back from the insurers repair centre, its been written off. the damage is not bad at all, the forks need re finishing, yokes need to be reset and some machine work to remove some damage other than that just the left side hanger and gear shift/linkage. not sure whether to rebuild over winter or put it on ebay as it is,,,,,, pics to follow,,,
It's almost always worth doing it yourself if the damage is low and easy enough for you to fix. Different if you have to pay someone for stuff that is time consuming.
I take back what i said. New mudguard, gear lever, straighten up the front and it's good to go! I can't see why you'd get rid if you've already had a pay out? Looks like an average race weekend
it does look an easy fix, the forks are twisted as one is just touching the tank on full lock which is making me think the yokes need straighting up, i've had a payout on it, if i sell it i can upgrade to an S!!!!
They will need removing to check they are straight, as will the wheel axle and the lower yoke as they both are prone to damage especially if the knock has been enough to damage the forks.
the only impact was on the forks and bottom yoke after i jumped off to avoid a speed limit sign after bouncing up a curb.. there is a place nearby that does wheel and fork repairs i may just take the bike to them let check it over.
So if you are unfortunate to have an off. The insurers pay out for a written off bike and also give you the bike back or are you given the choice to buy the bike back from them?
haha i think i did bloody well, avoided the 50mph impact of the old twat that pulled out across my lane, one witness said "that was some pure evil knevil riding there, thought you was a gonna".
