Hi everyone a while since I've posted I'm going to see a 888 this weekend It a biposto & its L reg That's all I know apart from it's had the same owner for 10 years. I've owned 916 strada 996 999 1098 & I own a Pani now. But I know nothing about 888's apart from I lusted after 1 when I was riding Zxr's when I was a kid ! Well 25 same thing Any advice ? The guy has already said it will need recommissioning So at least He's honest. Ta in Advance
What's the price, get some pictures up for the knowledgeable to see (I know not a lot about these other than they look cool) but many do on here Price, service history, mods, UK bike. Mono etc?
Probably know enough as an early 916 isn't much different really...Showa forks, same engine really (only small displacement change obviously) etc. I think the main thing is condition and price. Bear in mind that you won't be buying replacement panels easily, and definitely not cheaply. However, most mechanical items are available their not too hard to keep on the road. £4k-£8k quoted above is optimistic for a bike requiring recommissioning in my opinion. Depending on what's required I'd say £2k-£5k - £2k if it needs stripping down and the frame/engine repainting etc and £5k if it's mint but needs belts, battery, service etc. For a Strada it'd be £5k-£8k if it was all up and running, service history, low owners etc. They're surprisingly good pillion bikes so a biposta isn't a bad buy for the cost saving over the SPs. Oh, and the 888 doesn't look as good as the white framed 851.....
Doesn't the Biposto have a cover over the rear seat ? When I said recommissioning ....... The guy said it would need a service & belts & said a new set of tyres wouldn't go a miss. Does the 888 run a 180 rear ? I think he said it had done 9000 miles I don't think I've seen 1 for sale for less than 6k ??
