  3. I sold the bike, by the way, TL1000S it was, bloody thing was possessed:biggrin:

  4. Acelerating at over 110 going down hill whilst overtaking a line of cars headed by a marked jam sandwhich Granada estate. It was on a quiet A road very late on a Sunday night in the early 80s. In a state of youthful ignorance I decided to "jump" overtake the cars that were pootling along some distance ahead of me and unfortunately the first one was the traffic car. It was not until switching the headlight on to full beam that a big white car with a big orange stripe became evident by which time I was committed. Thought "OH SHIT!!" and just kept the throttle on the stop under the mistaken belief they would not get my number at the speed I was going.
I got a caution because "we were unable to get an acurate speed". This was before speed guns were in common use, I did apologise profusely when they turned up at my house. The arresting officer suggested I was doing over 85 and I was not going to argue.

  5. Both while serving in the Army

147 mph on the M2, slowed down to 105 as I knew there were some bumps coming up, looked in the mirror and saw a bank of blue lights, very apologetic, polite and humble, got away with a fixed penalty £36 fine and 3 points. Ex Squaddie policeman good lad

99 mph in a 30 but it was on the A3 coming out of Esher which is like a motorway after testing a GSXR.. Pleaded poverty and losing rank and trade pay with the policeman, he gave me a right bolloc**** but let me go with a £64 FP and 3 points. I actually shook his hand and thanked him.

    Not being caught since......everything crossed

  6. You'd be amazed how many people get this bit wrong. The same day I got my asbo a mate got stopped for 35 in a 30 in his car - he got points and a fine cos he couldn't keep his gob shut.

My luck will likely run out the moment I do.

  11. 110mph in a 60 & 90mph in a 30, both outside a blind hospital in 1990. Fined £200, 3 points. Started doing track days shortly after and more careful on the roads.
