1200 Enduro Headlight Condensation.... Normal?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by MG1200S, Sep 30, 2017.

  1. Have condensation in my headlights... have seen this a couple of times when washing the bike.... but just been out for a spin and noticed it... dry day about 16 degrees out. Anyone else getting this?

  2. Nope, is it one side or both? I know the whole unit is one thing'

  3. Both sides....hmmm. Will speak to the dealer... thanks.

  4. Its a common complaint, there are a few threads about it on here, mine does the same

  5. You probably already know this but Ducatis have been doing that for at least a decade if not longer, that's no exaggeration either :)

A few other brands also have the issue but I'm pretty sure that my monster S2R did it, and also the 848, so that tells you how long it's been a 'feature' of Ducati ownership.

Should be loads of fixes online for old and new bikes, they'll be lots about clocks misting up too

  6. I know previous models have done it but was focusing on my own multistrada enduro.

  7. I suppose it's something I wouldn't expect on a modern day adventure bike costing £17k. Had lots of much cheaper bikes that didn't have this issue. Hence checking others experience on the Enduro.

  8. TBH, I know a car that cost North of £60k which does it. Just a function of these modern light units, not necessarily a problem as such? Doubt you will get anywhere with dealer/warranty wise, but good luck anyway?

  9. When I took it apart for nav installation found the rubber cover on top of the headlights to not fit properly.

  10. Mine does it to ... According to the Dealer, Ducati says its "Fine as the headlight burns it off".

  11. Interesting as I havent noticed it on my headlight but I do get condensation on the left front indicator:thinkingface:

  12. My BMW car does it too.

I guess it's as simple as there is air inside the light and that air will have water suspended in it.

Rather like the house if the warmer inside air comes into contact with a cooler surface some of the free liquids will drop out as condensation onto the headlight lens.

    I'm no expert but I'm not 100% convinced it's a fault.

Glad for some one with more knowledge to put me right though.

  17. I've had the headlight condensation issue after washing the bike too, but as the manual says, the headlight burns it off - so it doesn't bother me.
