Monster 1000s Ie (ds)

  1. I've been looking for another bike to compliment my early 900ss and decided on a monster. My budget is £3500 tops so originally thought of a S4r or S2r 800. Most decent condition S2R 1000's are over budget. I hadn't considered a 1000 DS model as they don't seem to come up too often. Are these considered a good model or not?

  2. I am pretty sure the 1000DS is a multistrada, I remember test riding one when they first came out.

  3. I have an S2R1000 with the ds engine, it is an absolutely wonderful bike. I also recently bought 2 nearly identical early S4Rs with the 996 engine. I`m selling one which I have not ridden but the one I am keeping is great. Just like the S2R but a lot more muscular, delighted with it. I think you would be very happy with either.
The one I`m selling is advertised on here in the for sale forum @ £3350. All details on the ad. I see you are in Scotland so not really trying to offer you mine as probably too far away but please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions on either S2R or S4R.
Good luck and they are about at sensible prices, especially this time of year.

  4. There’s a fella selling a lovely s4r for that kind of money on here if you look in the ads :upyeah:

  5. If you want a bigger engined monster the 1000DS is, in my opinion, the best of the early models.
Its down to personal choice to a certain extent but I prefer its aircooled 2-valve motor to the water cooled, 4-valve models and I prefer its double sided swingarm to the single siders. Many folk see this the other way around though.
Most folk who have experienced one say that the 1000DS motors are peachy.
And the UKMOC president owns two of them .. need I say more ?

  6. M1000 monsters rock, DS Motor is ace, easily tuned but excellent on the road. Regret selling mine
