Leeds, Where To Stay?

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Freak, Nov 29, 2017.

  1. Anyone live in Leeds? Looks like I’ll be up there 2-3 days a week for the next few months, working not too far from the white rose shopping centre looking on google maps.

Need a hotel somewhere where there’s decent/secure parking either near my place of work or in the centre so I have some nightlife.

Any suggestions for hotels/serviced apartments/areas that tick the boxes much appreciated.

  2. Can @Exige or @El Toro not put you up? :D

Depends on budget and who’s paying, but city centre will be quite dear really. Have a look on AirBnB, you might find more on there but hotels.com do a free night with every ten nights too. Leeds is really commutable and with good transport links by bus and rail so consider also a nice smaller surrounding town or village. Nightlife in Leeds city centre is great but it’s quite dear. A decent bnb in Shipley or somewhere on that side shouldn’t be too dear, and you still have a bit of a chance of a few beers of an evening.

    Good luck!

  6. Like @Fire3500 says it's down to your budget. Like any big city there's luxury and there's shit holes a plenty with lots of mediocrity in between.

  7. Manchester.

  8. are you talking bike or car parking?
Morley is not far from the white rose centre .I used to live there years ago and never had any hassle. Have you thought of renting a room from somebody?
Avoid Harehills and Armley areas if you want your car? to have some windows in it on a morning ,and avoid east Leeds and Beeston unless you have an uzi to hand.

  9. I stayed at the clayton hotel a couple of weeks ago which was great, good safe parking and about a 5 to 10 minute walk to city centre. Only one problem....lots of leeds united supporters staying there that weekend for the sunday match....do I not like dirty leeds :joy:

  10. We went to Leeds Christmas shopping back in 2011. It was the day of a local celebrity’s funeral. Some bloke called Savile and everyone was saying what a lovely fellow he was ......

  11. Well good luck with that. Leeds as a motoring commute is a feckin' nightmare,so if you're near the White Rose, look on Trip Advisor for something around Morley (round the corner). Beeston/East Ardsley/Belle Isle are areas nearby but very well known to the local constabulary and to be avoided.

If you want nightlife (most pubs have died outside the city centre) you'll need to look somewhere in the city centre.
Not the best place and you'll need secure parking

  13. If El T has his own estate, couldn't he stay in the butlers billet? perhaps do a spot of waiting on for his supper etc?

Plus I think the 'Wrinkled Stocking' has the odd late night.

  18. If budget allows, Village Hotel at Morley that'll be round the corner from where your working, Gomersal Park Hotel or Holiday Inn Tong both about 15 mins away from White Rose. Alternatively Angel (Travelodge) Bruntcliffe road Morley or Old Brickworks (Premier Inn) Drighlington again both close to WR.

  19. It's not all gloom and doom though.

If you're working near the White Rose, the great thing is, the main Leeds Police station is just down the road on Elland Road :upyeah::upyeah::upyeah:
