Ahhh RUST!

  1. To be expected I suppose, spend all that money and after 1800 miles you get this crap.

Not sure what the nut does but will need to replace it with a stainless one when I get chance and just de-rust the quickshifter balljoint. Never had it on my jap crap or MV. Come on Ducati sort yer sh1t out!

  2. Blimey, that's rather bad given the bike is so clean. Reminds me of my Alpha Romeo I changed all the wheel nuts and the main dealer said why ? [sic]They will only rust come the next rain shower. Hmmmmm That's why they call it Italian Exotica lol

  3. Tried to see what the nut does but all its says in the parts catalogue is "special screw" which is obviously Italian for "watch it rust like feck" lol

  5. thats the nut you turn the power up and down with..........mind you it would be a great spot for mounting your tax disc.

  6. Myself I would be taken it back or e-mailing ducati themselves with a photo and asking WTF is happening here then. Easily to change but sometimes that's not the point is it. If you spend a large amount of money on something that beautiful you don't expect poor workmanship from the factory.

  7. Was thinking that myself... Will email Ducati n see what they say!

  8. At the end of the day Ducati are a business, and their main aim is to make profits, a few cents saved on a single nut adds up over thousands of units, simple as that.

  9. What a rusty heap of crap.......... I'll give you £10 for it!

on a serious note, doubt you'll have much joy off ducati as its not a safety issue. All it is is a mild steel nut at the end of the day.

  10. Yes all jokes aside......it's only a bolt and its mild steel but would you be pissed off...I would, yes it's easily changed for a proper one but can you imagine Rossi's face if that had been on his bike.....no wonder he had a shit season

  11. My guess their answer will be......Yup your right that is a rusty nut!

  12. I think Rossi would have been over the moon if he only had to worry about a rusty nut on his bike tbh!

  13. There was a rusty nut on his bike for two seasons wasn't there.

  15. Who's a nut?

  16. All good points so will probably just change it and mention the state of the nut to the dealer.

  17. I'd send your photos to Ducati UK. What have you got to lose? Now that Audi is the owner they will want positives floating about the Ducati world, press etc. Just for goodwill they may get your local dealer to supply and fit a stainless one, be optimistic! Not exactly the entry level bike to the range is it.

From the photo that nut appears to lock an adjusting screw, you may end up with loads of difficulties if you alter the setting. (But don't let me put you off changing it if you have to  )

  18. The nut is off and soaking in Wurth Rostoff at the mo, will still change it once I can find a stainless one. Tried looking for an email for Ducati but no luck.

Was very careful taking it off, was wondering if its a belt adjuster or something like that?

  19. No belts in 1199. Something to do with the gearbox perhaps?

  20. This is unacceptable for a premium product whether or not it's just a nut, personally if it was me I'd be giving it large with Ducati
