998 Front Paddock Stand

  1. Hi, I've already got a genuine Ducati rear paddock stand and although the front wheel currently rests on carpet previously used in the lounge, however I've been looking on E bay for a front paddock stand. However there is an "official" Ducati paddock stand priced at around £360, but I've come across an almost identical stand manufactured allegedly in Germany for £30 inc postage. Basically what's the catch, assuming there is one?. Also having only ever used the rear stand, I assume that it's reasonably straight forward in getting the front of the bike elevated with the rear already in place, or is there a knack to doing this?

  2. Easy enough as long as you always do rear up first and rear down last.

When they go under the forks they dont feel that secure but those that go under the head of bike is better if you can do that on yours. Ive just swapped as never trusted the under the fork style 100%

  3. Like this one... i know i know itsnit a Ducati, its a Ducati’s mate

  8. so fork seal replacements then?

  9. Full fork service, oil and bushes, springs are ok for my weight so leaving them but now my guy has stripped them there is a bit of wear in the bushes, but 18000 miles on oem oil, should be better when i get them back

  11. If the front stand you want is for a 748 - 998 then a stand such as that used for the CBR in the pictures will not be any use to you. That type of stand requires a hole in the underneath of the lower yoke, which the 748 - 998 does not have (not sure about Ohlins forks equipped versions that have different yokes).
You will need a simple stand with cups that lift from the very bottom of the fork legs (cheap) or one with a sort of hooked bracket that goes around the bottom yoke - not so common. I use the simple one, it's a bit of a knack but it does the job for wheel changes, etc. Note - it will be easier to use on smooth concrete than carpet, where it will dig in.

  13. Bought myself a Probike FS11/D stand quite a few years ago, comes with a range of fitments and I have yet to find a bike it won't fit.
