I managed to pick up a good as new dp carbon clutch cover but it came without bolts or washers. Managed to grab some panigale time this afternoon and looks like it’s a fairing off job! Any advice before I take the job on would be appreciated. I’m always hamfisted with plastic clips!! Also my concern is that the existing clutch bolts may not be long enough to accommodate the clutch cover which I believe needs to be torqued. Ta
If they are the same as the GBRacing covers, you should have longer bolts (by the thickness of the cover mount - about 5mm or so). I wouldn’t do it without getting some longer bolts (Note: this is if it is a cover over the existing cover. If it is a replacement cover, I’m sure the standard bolts would be fine). Also, make sure you have the torque settings. Those bolts are surprisingly low torque (about 11Nm from memory), so make sure you don’t over tighten them (second note: if it is a whole replacement cover, there is a workshop manual order for which ones to torque first. I would guess you’ll also need some sealant).
Thanks Jolley.. it’s the half carbon cover to go over the existing clutch cover, I thought as much about the bolts. Thanks for confirmation on the torque settings, I’d read that they were around 10Nm in between all the usual “just use your wrist as a torque guide”! I’m glad common sense prevailed and I consulted the forum before making a pig ears of it..I’ll get the bolts ordered.
