Need advice please . I Replaced my broken clutch lever 749r duke . The clutch was engaging ok before I did the change over. But once I had put same spec lever on sorted the plunger etc got it all back together. Then found that I now I've lost all the pull on the lever to operate the clutch . And can't seem to do any adjustment ie plunger or lever to get clutch to pull in to be able to change gear & when it is gear & pull the clutch in to stop the drive to the rear . It's still engaged . It may be something simply. Any one can shine a light on this issue It will be appreciated
Thanks for reply. I wasn't sure if you would have to bleed the clutch after a lever change. First time doing a hydraulic lever change for me . All the online video's say straight swap no messing lol . So it might need doing
It shouldn't need bleeding after a simple lever change but air may have gotten in somehow. I'd try bleeding at the master cylinder first. Turn the bars so the reservoir is as near to horizontal as possible and remove the cap. At the bottom of the reservoir, under the fluid, is a screw. Undo the screw by a small amount, 1/2 a turn or so and gently pull the lever. If there is any air at the master cylinder it will escape as bubbles. Do this 2 or 3 times the tighten the screw and try to see if there is any pressure. If not there something else going on as it is very unlikely that a disturbance at the m/cylinder will let air in at the slave cylinder.
If the plunger on the lever is adjusted too long, the internal valve doesnt open when clutch is ‘out’ and it becomes a sealed system. Then when the fluid gets hot and expands causing clutch slip.
Thank you 900 streetfighter for your input & knowledge. Taking the time to reply I will check that as well. Cheers
Hi Derek . Thank you for information regards master clutch cylinder. Just done what you said and got a few bubbles through the slackened screw. In the reservoir Tightened everything back .
