So I've been tinkering with the position of the newly fitted SC Project Oval exhaust so that the indicator isn't in the firing line and doesn't melt or discolour...... Only on starting the bike to see the trajectory of the exhaust fumes..... Only for this to happen. Shooting Flames are awesome, that's not for debate..... But do I need to get rid of this exhaust to prevent damage to something? Is this a sign of a problem? Note it's zero degrees out and the bike had been running for about 30 seconds pr
On start up the bike will overfuel. If it’s cold it also does. Is it just a slip on? Anything more than a slip on will want mapping. Ideally even a slip on would although you don’t ‘have’ to
It's an SC Project Oval, slip on only, homologated but with the killer removed..... Oddly there isn't a cat tho.... It's very cold out and the bike hadn't warmed properly..
If you start blipping the throttle like that with a cold engine you may well have issues, let it all warm up, fuelling settle down, I got more popping back through with a remap and Termis on the 821 than I do with the SC on the 1200.
I finally managed to get the bike on a nice dry road yesterday to test the new exhaust and can now report that she runs perfectly .... I don't see any need for remapping or anything . So happy days .... It's bloody loud too!! Sounds fantastic!
Yeah - i dont think id be revving the tits off anything which is cold. As others have said it looks like its overfueling, but then to contradict myself my z1000 with a full system has a perfect fuel/air mix (as its been custom mapped on a dyno) and, i can get that to do massive backfires on command by just snapping the throttle off (good in town! ) so it may well be ok. But still, if you want to see the benefits of a correctly fuelled bike, get it on the dyno.
