  1. Hello everyone.

I've recently taken delivery of most of a MY2000 996 SPS. The biggest piece missing is the rear subframe, not just any old subframe, but one that takes the P8 computer.

Many thanks - I'm keeping everything crossed.

  2. Give rich at louigi moto a call he might have one but be prepared there going for big bucks these days.

  3. Thanks for the tip.

  4. You could also try @tom.i on this forum I believe he had several at one point. Although this was a while ago.

  5. Thanks for the info. I did find an old post from him but will try and make contact anyway. He does not appear to have been on here for some time but he may get a notification from your reply.

  6. He is not a regular visitor and he does\has spent time abroad at different times. I know him quite well and he certainly did have a number of Mono subframes at one point including a few that were for the P8 ECU's.

He is definitely worth a try and if hasn't got one he may be able to put you on to someone that he knows.

  7. Here’s one. Decent price too.

  8. Hi @bettes Thanks for the photo but @Tommy B had one squirrelled away. You were selling some 996 bits a while ago - do you have any left?

I did see this before but could not find it again. Looks like a Facebook group. Seems too cheep though. Do you have a link to this by any chance?

  9. Hi mate. Still got some bits left...
The photo above was taken from a Facebook group and the seller normally gets decent feedback. I know the admins of this group so could have a word if you wanted?

  10. Thanks @bettes That would be fantastic.

  11. So there are different types of Mono Subframes and you have to get one to match your ECU?

  12. There are three subframes that I can think of for the superbike models.

The earliest is for the P8 ECU, one for the newer 1.6 ECU which is positioned front-to-back and another for the 748R which is positioned side-to-side - the R has a longer tail to the management loom on the left of the bike.

The right hand loom also changed around 2000 for some models. The only difference I know of is the change from a two wire to a single wire neutral switch. The cockpit wiring may also be different because of this.

  13. And the change to three-phase alternators. I knew there was something else ...

  14. wow I didn't know that, so if I was wanting to fit a mono subframe to my 996bp I have to make sure its compatible with my ECU? No idea what mine is!

  15. Post a photo of the ECU in the subframe you have. What year is the bike?

  16. There is also the pin connection numbers from the looms at the front section near the headsticok, there are two different types, they are 19 and 22 pin types.

The rear loom on a genuine monoposto bike was also longer for the tail section as the ECU, as mentioned, was set further back and side to side mounted in the subframe.

The longitudinal siting of the 1.6M ECU was for Biposto bikes with steel subframes.

You then of course have the alternator connections, also mentioned, to contend with. Finally there is also the siting of the relays and fuses in the loom and they do differ. This refers to the ones under the seat and sit on the undertray and there were two variations if memory serves me correctly.

Full looms are interchangeable but they cannot always be mixed and matched depending on elements of the above.

This is in relation to 748 models etc none of which used a P8 ECU. That's different again.

  17. That's a 1.6 ECU so you should be looking for a 748 SP or SPS, maybe other models. Make sure that there are 4 mounting holes and the ECU points front to back. R's have the ECU side to side and your wiring loom won't reach .....

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  18. The 748SP and 748SPS have the same subframe as the 748R and the 1.6M ECU used in these bikes fits sideways in all of them. Only the steel 748 (and other models) has the ECU mounted lengthways.

The only correct way to mount a 1.6M ECU in an alloy subframe is to use the rear part of the loom from one of the above models. You will then have to use the correct longer rear loom from your model year bike as they can differ.

It is possible to have alloy plates welded to the subframe of the SP\SPS\R models to alter it to fit sideways and you may find that easier than sorting out the correct loom. The other option is to lengthen the loom and that has been done as well.

  19. Here's what I did with mine
