Dragon Motorbikes Durham Remap

  1. I was hoping someone would respond to this as they are not a million miles from where I live.

  2. No info. I used Neil at Cornerspeed.

  3. For a remap ? Are you happy with the service received and the results ? It is a long way from Bardon Mill.

  4. No-Neil did a postal ReXxer remap for my Multistrada. Fast and easy.

  5. OK, this is a new one on me and requires some further investigation.

Basically the ReXxer unit is temporarily plugged in and used to replace the existing map in the ECU with a modified map ?

The obvious question is how does the replacement map differ from the old and what are the objectives of the new map, are different maps with different objectives available. Are there new maps for each of the engine modes ? Also are the Lamba probes disconnected / over ridden ?

  6. The rexxer maps are pre written by the guys in Germany. We match up the bike/ecu details with bike to be flashed and select a suitable map from the central library.
They are not bespoke in the sense of it being tuned to an individual bike on the Dyno but they're pretty close and half the cost.
Objective? Basically the objective of the maps is to smooth power delivery and optimised AFR. Results are most noticeable below 6k in terms of smoothness, throttle pick up and torque.
The ECU is rewritten. It's not a plug in tuning box or such like.
The O2 sensors are disconnected and the exhaust valve wired open. The error flags are deleted in SW so no lights on the dash.
There is only one fuel map as such in the ecu. Riding modes modify the proportion and how far the throttles open. That gives you the slower throttle in touring or the restricted power in urban etc.
RBW can be modified but not within the scope of the 'basic' rexxer maps. It's not really needed or worth the time/£ imo.
We can write the ECU on the bike via the CAN or on the bench to open up the postal options.
Cost is 230 inc. return postage

  7. @nelly Thanks for the reply. That sounds very interesting and a worthwhile mod.

One problem I have is that this would have to be declared to my insurance company as a modification and I remember the hassle I had when I fitted a Booster Plug to my last bike, a BMW. (The Booster Plug richens the mixture, improves ride ability and improves fuel economy.)

What is peoples experience with their insurance companies ?

If the O2 sensors are physically disconnected, as opposed to 'disconnected' in software and the exhaust valve wired open then that is physical evidence in the event of a claim.

Also are there any implications for when the bike is serviced ?

  8. The O2 sensors are simply unplugged at their respective connectors. You can't really see them. The exhaust cable could be left in situ. It would no longer work though.
Servicing isn't an issue. The Ducati software does sometimes detect a map update, but if this is applied then we have a back up that can be reloaded at no cost back to the tuned version.
Not sure how many have declared it, wouldn't think many. Unless the ECU is read out then I can't see it being that easy to spot.

  9. Dragon usually do free dyno runs on a Saturday morning. You should go down and have a chat

  10. Neil's ReXxer remap sorted out the jerky running on my 2011. The hardest bit was getting the ECU out - I didn't want to take the tank off.
Whilst a dyno run would undoubtedly be even better, I didn't consider the extra cost and time spent travelling to be worth the few extra horses. The ReXxer did just what I wanted.
Unfortunately, I've now acquired a full Termi system which replaces my ECU. Yet to try it out, I hope it's as smooth or better as my ReXxer ECU, otherwise I'll be happy to revert!

  11. PS I didn't contemplate declaring it as a modification. A) it wasn't a performance enhancement and B) it's completely undetectable! It made my MTS what it should have been all along

  12. Has anyone uses these yet? Been thinking of getting mine remaped

  13. I wouldn’t go near them with a barge pole. I took my bike in last summer for a few minor bits of cosmetic work and they buggered it. Cost me £500 to get it fixed by Ducati M&S Newcastle.
