After the winter layup my rear brake is terrible and badly needs bleeding. The footlever goes vertical downwards pumping it brings it back but not good ! I am quite confident it doing the bleeding but cant see where the bleed nipple is. Any help appreciated. Steve R
Theyre on the caliper. The rear benefits from a bleed nipple on the master cylinder too. However I generally remove caliper and hang it higher than reservoir. The rear is always a fecker for trapped air bubbles. Plus these seals on the master cylinder are, shall we say, shite.
Recently did my brakes, you need to get the caliper above the reservoir if you have abs, won’t bleed properly otherwise, I cable tied it to grab rail... hope this helps
Do you mean it wont make much difference if I don't lift the caliper higher than the master cylinder ?
He probably means that the rear brake on 2010-15 Multistradas is never going to be all that great, or not for long. Bleed it, get it as good as it will go, and if it goes soft bleed it again.
Put a bleeder on the ABS unit under the seat and reverse bleed from the MC and Caliper. Makes the bleeding job about 5 minutes, which is nice when it has to be done every 1500 miles like on my old Multi.
Your dead right, very amusing. Anyway done the task now without removing the caliper. The result is as expected by all the replies on the forum, better but not great........ must try harder.
