1199s

  1. Hello I have just bought a 1199S, on first ride out I found there's a bit of a mid range hole in the response. (I felt a bit like a two stroke) Can this be changed via the settings? or is a more of a gearing issue or just the characteristics of the 1199 motor?

  2. If you remove the exhaust valve it makes a noticeable slight difference and is easy enough to do. It is a characteristic of the engine but also with the stock exhaust, a race system smoothes it off considerably. The other thing is you never really ride a Panigale at low revs like you do with older Ducatis, you ride it more or less like an four cylinder up above 8k rpm all the time. The 1299 has a load of low down torque so you can ride at low revs like the old bikes but even that is best up high.

  3. Take it out of rain mode and stick it in race mode :)

  4. Thanks, it seems wrong after riding the older engines. I guess I will have to change my riding style to suit

  7. Mine is far more manageable now and I managed to smooth out that awful 1199 trait.
It has 1299 system (wider bore) with decatted cans, Sprint Filter, Rapidbike Evo to smooth the fueling and auto tune and up several teeth on the rear.
I can plod along in 3rd gear at 30 mph without bogging down

  8. Of course!

  9. Thats a good point actually; @Poorly bobs dad do you know if the bike has had the latest fuelling updates? The first couple of years maps were awful but the later 2014 ones were pretty good.

  10. I love the top end but expected a better mid range out of the slow corners. Which gearing works best?

  11. The stock 1199 gearing is a bit long, you are better adding a couple teeth to the rear sprocket which will give you some more punch.

  12. 15F 42R goes like a fucker out of the bends managed 183 MPH (GPS) Down the Straight at Portimao

  13. Still poorly, the lazy get :):)

  14. Perfect! 15 / 42 it is

  15. Renthal is the way to go, much lighter than the OEM sprocket. You will need a carrier
