My 2016 Multistrada 1200S shows no signs of ANY electrical power!!! No Dash activity, no lights, nothing (as if the battery were disconnected). It does not respond to the wireless Key Fob (which has a new battery) regardless of where it is held against the bike and the “emergency” switch to enter a PIN code does nothing at all. The battery is at full charge ( LiFe), all fuses intact & power appears at the Starter Relay contact. The one time it showed these symptoms before (about 4 days B4 it went into full cardiac arrest), I was able to take the seat off, check all the connectors and all of the sudden, life returned. When it “powered up” it went thru a full suspension calibration and start-up sequence as if the battery HAD BEEN disconnected. I’ve run out of things to check. Any Suggestions?????????
Sounds like a dodgy connector, have you checked the earth lead? including continuity between each terminal in case there's a problem with connectivity between the cable core and the terminal itself.
Intact fuses are not necessarily carrying current properly. Make sure all the fuses are dead flat with no twist and slide them in and out a few times to remove any light corrosion that may have built up over winter between fuse and fuse holder.
Also, relays are electromechanical and can stick. It's a good idea to replace all relays as part of regular maintenance.
I don't think your motorcycle as designed for this sort of battery technology? Just as a tip this sort of battery can go to sleep. Turn on the ignition and leave it for a few minutes... try the back brake a few times over say 90 seconds.... does it come to life then?
Mine died completely when running. Completely dead-turned out to be one of the three relays under the left-hand fairing. They are interchangeable...worth swapping.
One of them is the hands free relay. If that fails nothing works. I think the other two are for dip and main beam
this is the same as my issue, does your instrument light still flash red? I presume your override button doesn't give you the option of entering a pin code?

I have removed all the fuses and reinserted them a couple of times. I checked all the Relays under the seat as well as the Hands free Plugs up front however I have not checked relays up there. That is a thought...We did get the instruments to flash "briefly" after a good session on the Snap On Battery Charger and we've swapped for a Lead Acid battery so the "source" of power seems to be ok. Just for reference I am a Registered Professional Electrical Engineer and an IT professional - retired of course) so it's not an understanding issue but one of not knowing how the Italians decided on the "logic" for the operation between the various modules, etc. I wish that a complete Ducati Maintenance Manual was available at reasonable cost. CANBUS can be a PITA sometimes...... Cheers & thanks for all the suggestions. I've been riding the BMW's in the mean time ( S1000XR & K1600GTL) so it's not like I'm not getting my saddle time in. LOL.
this looks to be the same issue as mine. yes the canbus is a pain - when it isnt working. so far I am looking at a bill of nearly £1k so not happy. £510 for the Handsfree and about 4 hours labour so far. I am contemplating fitting it myself as they are looking at 2 hours labour for that alone.
Interestingly, my over rode has stopped working unless I have the key nearby. Not sure if it always did that, didn't think it did, and kind fo defeats the object.
Interesting. Problem I have is nothing works......no over ride, keyless, etc. If your dash still lights up then the symptoms are a bit different.
Any use (its a 2015 one) ? https://www.dropbox.com/s/dmscn3dck7ap874/2015 MTS 1200S ABS.pdf?dl=0 there is a 2016 enduro one available if you look at the stickies at the top of the page, to save you time https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/free-ducati-owner-workshop-manuals.593/page-7#post-1309624
