This bike started life as a show bike for powerbronze and i have some articals with it in it and in the catalog with a big file on its history I bought this a few years ago as a basket case and brought it home in the back of the car the bike itself was a bit rundown and had been in a accident and thats why it had been striped down and the last owner did a very good job of boxing everything up the first thing was to strip the frame so i had somthing to work from then the engine and thats as far as it got for 4 years as i had to stop to do ther things allthe body work is by powerbronze and it was all damaged in an accident so i did think about repairing it but it was so heavy and thick i thought about a change of direction , i did buy a 3/4 full 900ss faring from germany (that i still have ) but never used it , but i did see on ebay a 900ss ducati with a bevel case faring on it and thought it looked great , i did ask the seller how i could get one and he told me i could have one for £350 plus vat fuck that i thought the lights and sub frame were good on my bike and i wanted to keep the twin lights so i found a 750r bevel faring on ebay germany for £70 posted with screen sorted so i just had to fix the two together it looks rough now but it is very strong as it is bonded and then glassed in place the seat is the next for cutting back to give it a slimmer look as it now looks a bit bulbus next to the fairing , then paint and polishing and i may go against the norm and not do it red and do it in a retro silver or black , we will se
well spotted Steve , yes it is a Z1300 horrid thing im rebuilding for a freind its so big and heavy i will be glad when i have finished it to get some space back
just found this with the bits i got with the bike , the small add in the corner is what the last owner got with it , its a pity the bike did not look like this when i got it
We're going to have a look around and see what other photos we might have of it back in the day, if there are any left!
Hope your experience with PB is better than mine. Over a period of quite a few years I have bought just 3 items from them, after the first one I don't know why I went back, I suppose it is a bit like getting drunk, you have to do it now and then to remind yourself how bad it is. Each item required extensive modification work to make it fit, and I was never anything other than frustrated and disappointed with quality and performance of the 900SS twin headlight fairing and 916 rear hugger mudguard I bought for my Ducatis and I cut my losses and sold them on. I hope Powerbronze posting on here can tell us that their quality has improved in recent years. I have a project 900 on the go too, but it will only have standard Ducati stuff going on it.
I'm sorry you don't have a good opinion of us. I can't speak for back then as I've only worked here 2 years, but I'd guess that at least 95% of our trade and retail customers and 100% of the race teams we sponsor are happy with our products. We do have very very few items that are returned for quality issues.
seat arrived today , so i got out the grinder then the welder then the first dry fit before making up any brackets it did take 3 goes to get the frame right , but it now looks to be ok
Well after spending all afternoon polishing the 900's pipes ,i then discover that they are in fact the 750s pipes DHOO, now i have to start again :frown:
Love the pipes polished, going to go and take mine off now and try to polish them up like yours, keep up the good work
Great thread, love the pics! I only ever bought one piece of Powerbronze kit, a single-seat replacement seat pad for my RVF400 which was great! It fitted well, looked good and was reasonably priced.
