Hello all, Just looking some info on the 1199 exhaust heat shield as have read conflicting information across various places. I have one of the early 2012 pani's with the black metal heat shield. I believe models in 2013 came with a revised plastic outer shield and silver metal inner shield. (like the 899 from new) I believe there was a recall for the early bikes but the first owner on my bike turned down the recall so I can no longer avail of it. Does anyone know if the 2012 recalled part is just the same as the newer part fitted on 2013 onwards bikes? So I then could just purchase a 2013 onwards part and fit myself? I ask this as I have read that the DP carbon guard will only fit the newer 2013 bikes...this would imply that the 2012 bike and its recalled/updated part is actually of different fitment to the newer 2013 bike's part. (or the headers have different mounting points, either/or) Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks
The kit is still available. It covers the exhaust heat shield and the rear cylinder covers. Part number is 69926691A for standard bike. There's quite a few fasteners and adapters needed to fit it all and they're included in the kit. It's about £130 iirc. There's another kit if you have the full system or headers kit fitted.
Hi, I also have a 2012 1199 which hasn’t had the heat shield mod fitted. Having just fitted a non-OEM carbon heat shield and melted it !! I have decided to go for the heat kit and DP carbon cover. I just picked on a new 69926691A kit off eBay for £70, but the installation instructions were not available. Does anyone know were I can find a copy?
