Another Rapid Bike Evo Question..

  1. Are you sure it wasn’t a “rapid bike exclusive” rather than an evo? They tend to run cheaper, but can’t be switched between bikes when you change.

  2. i put one on my 1299 last month, and it is working well,

i update the mapping after every few weeks as it carries out Auto Correction.

i changed some of the settings to have a less stepped mapping and increased the intervals via the settings tab.

i had some issues with updating, but once i had a fiddle with the refresh button on the interface page, it works fine.

im moving to the underseat Termi system from an Akra, so will just put it in reset and Autotune and no extra cost for remap etc..

  3. Ok,
So I installed the RB evo and sprint air filter yesterday. Currently out on the bike now. (Obviously pulled over)
I’m getting really bad vibrations around 6k and beyond. Anyone else experienced this?

  4. From what I know the RB takes at least a 100 miles to properly “learn” the map. I personally had no issues with vibrations though. I did buy mine used from someone with a full exhaust and filter setup and mine was stock exhaust and only a changed filter.

  5. Had a chat with calsport and rapidbike today! Very helpful indeed!
I ended up disconnecting the o2 sensors and basically double checking everything on the re- installation.
Everything seems to be working fine now ;)

  6. I do both remapping and fit RapidBike, Power Commanders etc and the RB unit is a great bit of kit and is a lot more advanced than anything else out there. It can take a while to set itself but then it keeps checking and adjusting itself, there have been a few issues with wrong connectors wiring etc but I believe this has been sorted out.

Biggest issue with remapping the DVT is that the ecu has to come off to be remapped whereas the earlier unit was done via the OBD port, if you have seen the location of the ecu, it's a nightmare and the only way to map anything properly is to ride it map it ride it map it and so on, dynos are great to get a base setting but you still then go out and do a few laps, map it again and so on until it's right actually in real world situations, same with a road bike, IAT/IAP sensors, ram air etc aren't at their best on a dyno.
As you can imagine, taking the ecu out every 5 mins isn't an option for most ( although when I do mine I'll just leave the bodywork off ) so the RB unit is a great solution, (we have the same with a lot cars that now need the ecu removing and opening which a lot of owners don't want us to do so we fit RaceChip modules instead).
Another thing to consider is the PAIR or Air recovery system which puts air back in the system for emissions and plays havoc with any bikes AFR, I've blanked mine off, modded the airbox and just waiting for ITG to finish making a filter for me.
