Silly question of the day! I have an 848 with termis fitted. I think they have removable baffles....!! There is an allen bolt on the underside which i have removed. I thought the baffles should just slide out but that is not the case. I dont want to force anything in case there is another bolt somewhere. Am i just being a spaz??!!
Yep  They are a pretty snug fit, especially if they haven't been in and out several times and were put in dry.
Let me start by saying that I've never owned Termis. I did put a set of Arrow silencers on an Aprilia and they had removable baffles. They had a bolt underneath, same as yours. Having removed the bolt it was still far from easy to remove the baffles. In fact, thinking about it, the Arrows had a spot weld that you had to break to show that YOU had removed the baffles and they hadn't just fallen out. Even when they'd been out and in again, they still didn't just fall into your hand. Short answer, I think you'll know if you're applying too much force. Hope that helps.
The guy who I bought my bike off gave me his 'Patented Baffle Removal Tool' when I bought my bike. It's a small household fire extinguisher holder. It works an absolute treat, just hook the bit that goes on the bottom of the extinguisher on the bottom of the baffle and pull it out.
There is only one Allen bolt per can. If they haven't been out, then they will be as tight as F*ck. It will probably be easier to take the can off and use something like a brush shank to knock it out from the other end. If you try to pull them out with grips or pliers from the end, they will end up with bite marks from the pliers in them and probably still won't come out.
Glen from Durham is correct they can be tight if left in.....so a couple of squirts of wd40 and a wiggle will get them out, then leave out till MOT time, I've ridden my M1100s for 3 yrs with them out and never had a problem with being harrassed etc put them in for 1st MOT and after passing nae bother the MOT boy asked me to take them out and laughed, and laughed...........
+1 on that. The only way I could get mine out was by removing the cans and knocking them out. Ground some off them so they slide in, but left them out.
This sounds like a pain... Was something I was wondering about myself as it happens. Reckon I'll cheat and ask Ducati Glasgow to take them out for me before I collect it.
Cheers for flagging this by the way... I called Ducati Glasgow this afternoon (had another couple of thing to ask too) and mentioned about the baffles. The salesman said that they generally remove them unless the customer specifies otherwise. So they're going to remove mine prior to collection and they'll stick the baffles in the box along with the stock pipes etc. Just figured it was best for them to do it while they were fitting them as the first thing I was going to do when I got it home was remove them... He said they can be a bugger to remove the first time due to the wee spot weld but once they've been out once they go in and out dead easy.
i removed mine with a slide hammer and a hook, couple of squirts with wd40 then taps with the slde hammer and out they pop.
That's why he's just a salesman....he's half right tho, they do go back in easy. Ok Popeye Suppose you just grab them with your vice like grip too...
Anth have you seen my forearms? Pure strength from years of... throttle twisting. Seriously I put a rag over some pliers and pulled them out, no marks, and no removing cans or heating them with a blowtorch to expand the surrounding tubes....
A bit tight is not the worst thing in the world. I had a KTM 990sm that I used to remove and refit the baffles on. Went out for a blast on day baffles in, and got back without them. Guess there is a car around somewhere with two big holes in its windscreen.........
Took the baffled out of the scorpion cans on my SS, one Allen screw and out they slid. Bike runs much nicer without them, too..
