Most definitely the wrong colour. Far too much brown in it making it look like bronze, should have more green in it. Google photos is your friend, ample examples to show the right colour. Andy
Would there be any difference in colour (Gold) from the early 916 3 spoke brembo to say a late 1999 748 or is it just pot luck and buy a matched pair or single. I ask as my 1999 748 wheels have been resprayed and i have been thinking of getting an original pair to match the frame and keep the bike 100% original , also will all wheels fit in the 916/748 3 spoke range as i am not sure on bearings/spindle/speedo and disc/caliper size's.
surely they are close enough to be the same given likely differences in light/shadow, camera, weather conditions etc?
I asked the question because they are on a very low mileage '100% original' 996 that is a very long way from me and suspected the wheels didnt look original colour, dealer thinks there original. I was trying to decided whether to travel 3 hours to have a look, ive decided not.
I have a 98 996, the colour looks about right. I wouldn't judge the colour from that poor photo though, I could take 10 photo's and make them look all different by altering exposure, white balance, lighting, flash etc....
Which doesn't include the variations between the screen used to view the pics. If a reputable dealer is saying the wheels are genuine, they probably are, and in anycase will be returnable.
Thought i wouldn't start a new thread but add to the end of this one as its relevant, The gold frame /wheels changed to grey, what year did the gold end and grey start 2002? and was it a definite cut off in colour or a merger of the two that year, ( i.e. you could still get the gold when grey was available the change over year) also to confirm they are date stamps on the wheels.
