No they were stainless ones I bought from ProBolt. IIRC the "brass" coloured ones are actually zinc plated then gold passivated. Trouble is they had a tendency to corrode, as did most of the older Ducati fasteners and fixings that all used to be treated this way. Cadmium plating was also popular but is not environmentally friendly and has pretty much been abandoned from my experience, by most plating companies. I had mine gold plated (surprisingly not that expensive) which meant the DZUS fasteners would never corrode or lose their lustre, save for the occasional bit of buffing. If parts are silver in colour, they simply haven't been passivated and are just coated in zinc. For cosmetic purposes bright zinc plating looks better if you want to shy away from the duller straight zinc plating.
