Has anyone had any fitting issues when fitting a comfort seat on their 899 / 1199? This was the response from Ducati about the 1/2" gap around the back edge. "I got a reply back from them this morning, according to Ducati when the seat is covered with the outer material is stretched really tight over the seat foam. Once the seat has been used is softens up slightly and fills out the remaining gap. I was told if I ordered another seat it would be exactly the same as the one you purchased. "
as you have it in writing, then use it for a few weeks and then see, if no change, then send it back. but i would communicate this to the representative you spoke first..
I have the comfort seat also and i can confirm it does not fit as such. The gap is far too large to naturally spread out just by the cushioning expanding from use.
Is the back part of the seat slotted in correctly? There's two tabs there. Looks like it might not have been "pushed down" before slotting in/back?
I have a comfort seat on my 899 and it isn't a slightly flush as the standard seat. It leaves a bit of a gap but when it is sat on it squashes up against the back of the pillion pad/brick. The gap isn't as big as the one you have shown but as squadron corsa says, you may have misaligned the two tabs at the back when installing it. I did the same thing after I added the heat deflector kit anencephaly only noticed after a week. It left a big gap the bit only a 30 sec job to remedy.
UPDATE: Just to confirm I ran with the seat for about 800 miles and never budged a bit. Got it swapped by Ducati Glasgow today and its 100% better. Can no longer fit 4 fingers down the back of it. As some have said there is still an ever so slight gap around the back but nothing like this. Looks like there may have just been a manufacturing issue that took Ducati a lot longer to admit than it should have. Thanks for all the answers and suggestions!
