1200 1200s Ducati Badged Garmin

  1. Hi my garmin sat nav's screen which came with the bike (2013 1200S) has developed a frozen screen so will not allow me to input info but does show maps and the route when riding. Now screen will not come on. Is it F'"%ed or does anyone have any suggestions please?

  2. Changing a screen isn't too hard and they are available on the likes of eBay as a kit including the tools you'll need.

Which model of Garmin is it? That age possibly a Zumo 660?

Might just be road 'gunk' stuck under the gasket at the very edge of the screen. Have had that on a previous Garmin before, screen was doing odd things. Strip, clean and reassemble sorted that. Though a blank screen sounds like something else.

  3. Might be worth trying a factory default reset - it cured a couple of issues on my Garmin, neither of which was the same as yours, though.

  4. Agree. Factory reset or simply remove battery and reconnect.

  5. Failing that, you tube is full of how to dissemble Garmins and achieve much of the options mentioned above

  7. Thanks screen only just gone blank so could be dirt ingress and just got worse.
Will look into to stripping down. Didn't realise they could be dismantled easily

  8. I have tried factor reset as instructed online but does not operate so does not respond

  9. Drop it in the bin. They are crap.
possibly the worst scat nav I have had.
I now have a TT Rider even that locked up during update process and had to be returned to TT under warranty for repair.
Why are bike specific navs so crap?

  10. Not much help but I got a mint boxed Garmin 390LM sat in a drawer all the attachments you can have for a couple of hundred quid. If not good luck with yours.

  11. Hi Wayne, what spec is that compared with my Zumo? Need something that will use same power plug and fit holder unless you have that too?

  12. It's boxed with all accessories, you want a pic ??

  13. Hi Wayne, what spec is that compared with my Zumo? Need something that will use same power plug and fit holder unless you have that too?

  14. Yes send me a pic Wayne thanks. I'm pretty sure mines dead but would quite like one to mount in centre of headstock as per my original whereas looks like yours may have to mount on the handlebars?

  15. They can mount anywhere depending on the mount you use. Anyway, here it is, pretty sure it uses similar mount to your old 660. But depending on where you want it, mounts can be used or bought to accommodate and put it anywhere you wish. I had a 660 years ago, and they mount in exactly the same way David. The 390 series is also much much faster to load routes etc than the old 660, has lifetime free map updates, and a much more user friendly interface with many more options in it. Hope this helps.

  16. The cradles themselves will be different between Garmin PNDs for different series. However, most, if not all cradles mount to the hardware using the AMPS mounting pattern. You should be able to swap the cradle on your existing mount.

Note that the Garmin in Wayne's pic above uses a transformer, on most other Garmins (660, 590 etc.) this is incorporated into the cradle itself. Powering the cradle of the 3xx series directly from a 12v feed will result in a puff of smoke and an expensive paper-weight.

  17. Thanks for this Wayne. It looks good but will see if can get mine going first.
Tbh I have very little time so if I bought yours I would have to refit wiring get new cradle etc and that won't happen this year and have a couple of trips planned before winter where I would like o have one

  18. Thanks for the info. How do you mean the cradles mount to the hardware exactly?

  19. No problem, here if you need it.
(PS, it took me about an hour to fit it to the DVT)
