1200 Heated Grips Stopped Working This Morning

  1. I have had the same problem and replaced mine with a set from tusk. Soldered them in, checked and they have continuity so all should work. Now my originals karked it - left first then nothing no heat at all. Checked the right hand and it had continuity but left was nothing. Question is does old heated grips flash a code in the ECU/dash and won't allow power through? So do I need to tkae a trip to the dealers to clear codes and reactivate the grips? The dash says they are activated but not getting warm at all. Any ideas??

  2. As far as I know once they have been activated they remain activated. Others have successfully fitted 3rd party heated grips after the OEM ones have packed in with no problems. Perhaps you need to look at the wiring from the dash? Check for voltage at the grips and at their connectors.

  3. Yep broken connection - resistance is there which is the same as the oems . Will give them a run tomoz, but expect all will be good. $40 repair for a $400 replacement seems fair?? Thanks to all that contribute to forums, have learnt so much over the years.
    Cheers windi

  4. The grips are wired in series, if one goes they both go. If you push the issue, as it is a known fault, Ducati will replace them for free. However, they will only do that if you let the dealer fit them, and pay the labour charge!! This is despite the fact that they are "plug and play". Best wait until your fuel sender fails as well and get both jobs done together. Hope I don't sound too bitter??

  5. If you are interested, I put a detailed video together on how to go about doing this work. For US $40 you can repair these on your own.
