1200 DVT Painted Hand Guards?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Bjohnson, Oct 28, 2018.

  1. anyone painted the hand guards - the silver pieces? Was going to do mine to change the silver, I thought they were metal parts and was going to powder coat but they're actually abs plastic!

  2. I painted mine black. Just took the surface off the existing silver, used it as a base coat and put three coats of Matt black on.

  4. 8DB6B24B-51FC-4EEE-BBDA-46CCD714A028.jpeg I hydrodipped the upper part of my guards in carbon fibre look alike, easy to do.

  5. Yes, got it from Halfords.

  6. Ooh I like those, is that a DIY job? How do you do that

  7. Yes, you can buy a hydrodipping kit and do it yourself, I have to say practice makes perfect and it took me quite a few goes to perfect the process of the film hydration, activating the film and of course the dipping.

Patience is the key, I have some.

  8. I went on a web site in america somewhere. Think it was called H2o. hydrodipping. The guy has loads of utube video,s doing the dipping. Watched them all, brilliant.

  9. I got my kit from bdhydro.co.uk

    Give it a go.

  10. Nice work! Curious what base coat color you went with?

  11. I just wish they would make them more substantial so they don't break so easily!

  12. First plastic primer, then grey primer, then metallic black base coat.
