As above. Left the local bike shop, suns out, got a bit extensive with the throttle (few lifters in 2nd)...so a few 2nd gear power wheelies in the bike cuts out and comes coasting to a stop (at this point) after a full engine rebuild im thinking...fuck...not again!.....so, about a minute after ive come to a stop - i try the starter and it fires up fine (amber engine warning light on) but is sitting there ticking over fine. So, ride home (very gingerly) and its fine. Put the bike in the garage, get all my kit off (just the the bike gear lads!) back in the garage, start the bike, engine warning light gone. This is probably the first time post engine rebuild that ive given it some real stick....i did a couple of weeks after i rebuilt it (on the word of ducati john) give it some stick (as he said once you know its all running ok open it right up to bed the rings in) and when i did it then i had almost the same thing....after a full throttle run up though the gears its like it was starved of fuel (then came back on almost immediately) Anyone who followed my rebuild thread knows that i opened up the exhaust ports a little (round the valve guides) so, my question is, is now ive done that, it seems to me that it might have to go back on the dyno to be re-mapped as the exhausts ports are now effectively larger (thus maybe needing more fuel?) this afternoon seemed to me to be a bit more of an extreme version of that. As i say, just started it up, sitting there ticking over fine, engine light gone. Also, anything i can plug into it to see if i can find what error it threw...?
Is it possible that you can access fault codes via the dash ? I may be thinking of something else . But yes you need to get it code read to give you a direction ....if engine man. light come on the management has seen some issue
Have you a full system? My 848 used to chuck them up quite often. Off/on again and clear, and mostly out down to butterfly sensor
Mine used to come on on the 999 pulling away occasionally, something to do with revs not matching speedo reading / sensor.
Mine used to do that sometimes. I found if I switched off and coasted to a halt, it would go away. Hasn't happened since swapping the ECU.
