998 998s Final Edition Ohlins Fork Reference

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by sven59, Nov 20, 2018.

  1. hello everybody,
I ´m still trying to find a pair of fork bottom ends for my geniune Ohlins fork.
The fork reference of a 998S FE is not the same has the 998R.
Because the 998S FE has got an offset for brake rotors of 10mm.
And the 998R an offset of 15mm...

The référence of the fork is maybe the same has the 996R or the SPS (not really sure) maybe ok if the 996R has an offset of 10mm with 65mm calipers.
    If someone can verify :upyeah:

Can you give me please the reference of a fork of 998S FE ?
If you have it on your bottom end fork
    PLEASE:(

  2. Go through the threads on here mate as @Not Carl Fogarty did a lengthy report on his findings when he did the conversion.

  3. Thank you very much for your help Bettes.:upyeah:

But If someone with a 998S / Bostrom or FE or 996R can give me the reference on the bottom end fork.;)

It can confirme the reference to be sure to order bottom ends in 10mm rotor offset and not 15mm:confused:

  4. Just had a look on the fork bottoms of my Bostrom but cannot see any markings on either side.

  5. No references on your fork ????
    Strange:thinkingface:

    I make some investigations :
Maybe it's a FG8851 for 998S FE / 998s Bostrom / 996R (same ducati reference parts but I need the official Ohlins reference)

  6. To see the markings you will have to look from the opposite side through the gaps in the disc, on the fork leg.

  7. Yes this is the solution :upyeah:

If someone could look at his bike.:motorcycleduc:

  8. I will give you mine:

    FG 8851 2003.10.25 - speedo side.
    FG 8851 2003.10.26

    These give 10mm offset,
    My bike is 998 2002 S,
    with ohlins front conv.

I had to try and confirm, the forks. Were sold as 998FE. problem I had..speedo drive needed a mod (but) as my bike had previously installed digi dash, may not have been correct speedo drive! Ordered one for FE I think, and it went in... and worked.

Please try and confirm those part no.s as correct, with a legit FE before ordering!

I'd be intrested to get it confirmed via a genuine 1 owner from new 998FE. I was going to look at one.
As can get conflicting info, some people may measure discs differently etc.. I suspect some bikes have had fork swaps, some owners say ducati may have fitted the forks (parts) they had available at that time to certain bikes, so may be differences.

I know the 15mm offset ( 998r) was achieved by casting/ machining the caliper mounting points.

    Most photos I studied online...
The FE's didnt have this, The cast line up the middle is equal (material thicker) where the caliper bolts on same as mine.

I found it hard to get confirmation.
As ohlins no is not the part no Ducati use. And ohlins just recognise part nos a non bike specific.

Hope that helps & Sorry could not be more specific, it was a while ago now.

Also the disc parts no on the 2002 eu 998s match, and maybe the 996r.

It is in parts manuals I downloaded. The bostrom etc have different part nos for the discs, may make no difference to offset but worth checking.

  10. Ex, Is talking about ohlins 998 fe fork bottoms 10mm off set. Brembo stock caliper, stock discs. 20181123_101955.jpg

  11. I was talking about the Ohlins number not the Ducati part number for the fork assembly :)

  12. Just had another look, I can only get to the l/h side to see the inside of the r/h lower fork. The stamping in the caliper mount is FG8851 2002.01.13
Not able to see the other side because of where the bike is stored. Just to confirm it is a 998S Bostrom registered in 2003 but would think it was built 2002.

  13. Thanks for yours responses.
But I phone to Ohlins in France.
And the bottoms ends are out of stock for the FG8851
Somebody give me the reference of FG320
But I don't know the offset for this one...
