Aside from Ducati's hideously priced tail tidy, I don't seem to be able to find one that works with the panniers in place. Does anyone out there know if such a thing exists?
Rizoma! awesome finish and quality and way lower preice than the DP one. Check my pics: http://ducatiforum.co.uk/f6/multistrada-gallery-61/index3.html
I belevie that if you want to use a tail tidy with panniers you will need much reduced sized indicators, not the OE ones. I have the evotech performance one fitted and its a nice piece of kit. If you are anywhere near birmigham you are more than welcome to try your panniers on my bike in order that you can gauge the clearance.
Thanks LeNoir but the nice people at Rizoma have just confirmed that their tail tidy works with the panniers in place. Good of you to offer though
The panniers fit perfectly! The references i´ve used: Universal Indicator Lights by Rizoma Bikes Accessories - Universal License plate supports by Rizoma Bikes Accessories - Hope it helps! Cheers JP
I just have the OE ones with my tail tidy. I want some nice little LED ones but some of the ones I have seen on other bikes are so dull you cant tell if they are on or not. I would be interested to know how bright the Rizoma ones are once fitted. reg plate by LeNoir B15, on Flickr
I'll let you know when they arrive and I've fitted them. They are high intensity LED so they should be good and at €78 for the pair they better had be!!
Some photos of the Rizoma with Kellermann indicators (named "Micro Rhomus"). The Rizoma is adjustable in many different directions. The pictures are showing the right adjustment that the panniers can be fitted.
I believe that although they fit, the only downside to this is that the indicators cannot be seen from the side with the panniers fitted. heres a couple of photos from another site.
You're right and this is a big disadvantage. With the OEM indicators / tail the angle is maybe 10° - 15° "better" I guess.
I must be getting old (I know I am lol)........I quite like the style of the OE indicators and what I like more about them is the comments I've had from mates about how effective (highly visible) they are in use. And whilst replacing the rear fender with a tail tidy looks great it's another of those function over form things for me, the fender does a great job of keeping spray and dirt down (as does the 'crud catcher').
Good point about the crud catcher Andy! I went to Oliver's mount Scarborough yesterday and got caught in a small hail stone shower! I took the crud catcher off a few weeks ok, thinking better summer riding ahead...... The back of the bike and the Mrs! Was complete covered in dirt n crap!!!! WHOOPS!!!!! Amazing how effective it is! Even if it does look crap...?
....at least you had the Mrs on the back to keep your gear clean! lol I learned how good the 'crud catchers' are when I took it off my GS for a while....and promptly refitted it after a wet country roads ride! I've even got the larger hugger fitted to the Mutley...although I found a carbon one
Haha! Good call it was to, as I had my new Ducati jacket on!! Yeah ur right mega effective, but prefer the look without, spent all day cleaning today! Yeah seen the larger carbon hugger, looks good!
I always have a debate with myself about whether to keep the crud catcher fitted. Most of my riding is done with my other half (humph humph):biggrin: and she likes to have the topbox fitted so I have taken the crud catcher off. When I did remove it there was hardly any "crud" on the inside!!
