Due to some slight weather we had here in the states when Hurricane Michael ripped a hole in my garage roof, all of my Dzus fasteners for my 998R are now rusted and corroded (they were sitting in a pile on the floor and got completely soaked). Luckily all the carbon bits were off in another state getting refreshed and repainted so they survived just fine. The bike itself was off to the side so it didn't get a drop of water on it. I'm looking to replace the Dzus bits now and was looking at the ProBolt stuff but didn't know if their 17mm ones are too long for the carbon fairings, or if I need to use the 14mm ones? Anyone have experience with them on the carbon fairings? They seem a bit thinner than the plastic on my 748 but I've never measured the thickness with calipers.
I’ve measured them out but unfortunately ProBolt only lists the total length and not the engagement length. I’ve got a message into them but was hoping someone else might have an answer before ProBolt can reply back
I did, 17mm long, 13mm for engagement; I've seen some shorter ones that have 12mm for engagement and I was wondering about the ProBolt ones; they are 17mm long but if they are 14mm for engagement then that'd definitely be too loose. Maybe they'll respond back with the engagement length on their bolts.
why pro bolt? i just got some stainless ones from the us ... seemed to be the place to buy despite the import duty.. (£15 for $25 worth)
Depends how the package it and label it... you just need a seller that understands what to put on the customs label: If you buy goods online from outside the EU for delivery to the UK, you'll have to pay Customs Duty (if over £120 value) and Import VAT (if over £18) on top of the purchase price (including duties), though Customs Duty is waived if the amount of the calculated duty payable is £7 or less.
If you don't mind me asking, which shop? I've looked around for stainless online and I'm having a hard time finding a place that isn't sketchy as everything, haha.
As measuring is clearly a big boys job for you too, youre probably best getting a grown up to do it for you...
