Less than 600 miles, why bother getting one? Certainly not as an investment with that depreciation, should of just ridden the wheels off it
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, what is the point of buying an (expensive) bike and not riding the wheels of it? Does not compute.
If I'd of gotten one when they first came out (I was in a position to afford one then, after a compensation payout) I'd of been out on it every damn chance i had. Bloody sure it would of had a damn sight more than 600 miles on it
I put 5000 miles on mine in the two years it was available to me, one 10 month period it was in the workshop. So 2500 miles a year is a lot for me given that I was abroad a lot at the time. Ian has put the most miles on his of anyone I know, last time we spoke it was over 15K. When you have one it's not a mile muncher, if you use the performance it's 55 miles to a tank of gas and that's a pain in the ass! 3 fill ups on a Sunday ride out is no fun and this is a fun/toy bike it's not practical for anything else other than fun.
If I had the money, i'd have one and use it just as intended....to and from the Ace Cafe once a week at 30mph
The GP7 exhaust was an option, but other than sub-zero ambient temperatures it's not really optional as the 'cat street exhaust' and the 'race exhaust' both route the heat from 4 pipes past your backside and inner thighs. The GP7 with just the rear cylinders routing past your ass allows you to ride the bike in a European summer 15 degrees or more. Whilst still not comfortable once the mercury hits the 20's it is at least reasonable. Note he wants best offers over £30K, that doesn't mean he'll accept £30K. It does look clean and well loved, JHP try to keep a file on each UK Desmo16, so might be worth a chat to them.
The fact that there are 7 of them for sale on evilbay from 30K to 38k says something. Having a 30 - 40k bike in the workshop for 10 months would drive me mad......
It's just a bike, no more frustrating than any other being in the workshop. I think I was living in Hong Kong at the time so didn't even notice.
a friend of mine beat me to a 2600 km one for: hold tight : 18K!!! he picked it up 2 weeks a go.. hasn't stopped smiling yet! ..
great bikes no doubt, but imho, theyre just so flippin fugly...they remind me of the old benetton era honda CBRs..the pani and 1098 series are so much prettier..still, i guess that goes out the window when you 'twist the throttle'...
