As the saying goes "it's not speed that kills you, it's stopping suddenly". Whilst I can see that this might help in certain accident situations preventing the rider hitting the handlebars and the other vehicle, inhibiting the body from moving forwards in an impact is going to have a possible deadly effect on internal organs with things such as a torn aorta.
thanks for putting that up, much appreciated. probably a swearword on here, but maybe having two big cylinder heads in front of your legs, like the bmw gs . would they take the impact rather than your legs? probably grasping at straws here
I had to check that article wasn’t published 1st April. Not doubting it, but I’ve the same line as the author of the article: far from convinced.
Also another thing to note with the D-Air is that the jacket has to be returned for service every 2 years. I agree that moving sideways when you see a car at a junction is very helpful.
Track only here. I went for the Alpinestars tech air. Dunno what it’s like but I’m sure the 3 LED flashy lights on the forearm make me look frightfully cool whilst strutting about the pit garages....
well after getting the go ahead from the wife ive put a call in to ducati manchester and they are letting me know when a demonstrator comes available. I reckon ill be able to ride in 4-6 weeks and even if i dont ill enjoy fettling in the garage. going to ask for delivery this time just be be sure i get it home! as in buying a demonstrator not trying the bike out!
Well done for surviving. I think a smash in a car like that may well have got you killed, so bad as it was it could have been worse. It also could have been me if things work that way as I called Manchester to buy your bike the day after they sold it to you. SMIDSY accidents like this can be in theory prevented if the dopey gits manage to see you - How about fitting a high intensity flashing amber light to the front of the bike, much like the bin lorries use or maybe a white flashing light similar to what cyclists have?
Glad you are on the mend. If its any use boots wise I can't stress how good these boots are. Pricey depending where you buy them but a very solid boot that's re buildable should the worse happen. Mine have taken a track day off and an off on the road and are still very useable. They do have a hole in the outer but the protection on the insert is second to non and mine have sustained no damage...or my feet/ankles etc. https://www.daytona.de/en/index.php?section=mediadir&cmd=detail&lid=1&eid=30
Might be worth taking a look at this or one of the other videos on the subject of the D-Air bike. I'm told the reaction is slightly quicker than the aftermarket kit that is not linked to the bike but that info was at launch of the bike so may now be out of date. Here's a link to one of the videos available:
I was told by the surgeon today I would have probably been killed if I’d have had the crash in my car. Like hitting a brick wall at 60mph. The fact I could dissipate some of the energy by flying down the road helped???
He didn't by chance end this conversation with "..now get down on your knees & suck my cock..". Am I confusing things with team america world police?!?!
