Pretty sure the tank does need to come off for the 950 and DVTs, because its a panel filter similar to the panigale ones, not the odd shaped tube like on the pre-DVT machines. I do agree though, you can get the filter out by removing the beak and side blades (they come off in one lump), then 3 screws to get the cover off. 10 minute job.
Just got one & its far less weight than my current two sockets for my enduro. Made notably out of stainless steel. Got mine from their ebay account ducati1_shop although webby address is on the package shown; CTmoto.

I have the workshop manual for the 1200s MY2017 but too large to post on here. I know its not a 950 but a lot of the items are the same.
